Comments Thread For: Froch: Was Mayweather That Good or Pacquiao That Poor?

LAS VEGAS — Floyd Mayweather Jr. was money once again in the richest fight ever. Mayweather used his reach and his jab Saturday night to frustrate Manny Pacquiao, piling up enough points to win a unanimous decision in their welterweight title bout. Mayweather remained unbeaten in 48 fights with a win that cemented his legacy as the best of his generation.

Pacquiao did what he wanted to do, chasing Mayweather around the ring most of the fight. But he was never able to land a sustained volume of punches, often looking frustrated as Mayweather worked his defensive wizardry once again. Two ringside judges scored the fight 116-112, while the third had it 118-110.

It was a pathetic performance from Pacquiao. Their post-fight behavior is just making it all the more shameful.

mayweather is just a cut or 10 above the rest...pacquiao and others ought to be thankful that there arent 5 or 6 other mayweather calibre fighters....matter of fact they ought to be glad that boxing is a sport that no money is in..so the fighters like floyd cant draw a crowd enough to demand the big names that the media makes....CW after CW weight stipulation aafter weight stipulation...manny's legacy took a major black eye last night..8 divisions or not he isnt in my top 25 all time

Froch said during the fight that he'd never seen Mayweather fight live and that he looked very good on TV but amazing live.

          A bit of both.

Pacquiao was sluggish from the start, he didnt want this win as badly as Mayweather.

            Canelo did a better job.

I said going in that Pacquiao would go guns blazing if a decision lost looked inevitable, that was the intriguing factor of this fight because most are always made to be tentative. When that didn't happen it surprised the heck out of me. Mayweather made him far more cautious than we're used to seeing.

Disagree. Canelo was getting walked backed and Mayweather really had it dialed up on him. Against Manny he scored off the back foot and countering a lot. Never really pressed him like he did Canelo.

Floyd was good but Mannys performance was pathetic, coward like even.

He didn't make it difficult for Floyd. The occasion got to him when he realised he was in the ring with greatness.

Team Pac had no plan B for TBE and I think Roach should take a lot of the blame.
