Comments Thread For: Bradley Could Fight at 154 By Year’s End, Start of 2016

Timothy Bradley will remain a welterweight in his next bout, but the former 140- and 147-pound titleholder could soon be moving up to junior middleweight, according to trainer Joel Diaz Sr.

“He can still make 147. If I could bring him to ’40, I would bring him back to ’40, but he can’t make ’40 anymore,” Diaz said on April 10. “Our next move will be fighting at 154, but I’m not thinking right now. Maybe one more fight and we’ll move to 154.”

Diaz said that move could come by the end of 2015 or early in 2016. There had been talk in the past of Bradley going up and facing, say Miguel Cotto at or near junior middleweight, among other potential opponents. That’s not a far-fetched idea, Diaz said.

That is a terrible idea. 147 took enough from Bradley, at 154 he'd be completely ineffective.

He's not effective at 147 let alone 154.

Sucks because there are a ton of great matches at 147 like Thurman, Khan, or Brook. Win against those three solidifies his greatness better than Floyd at Welter.

154 is a step too far for Tim, stay at 147.

I get the feeling Bradley's just getting lazy now, I'm not sure his heart is still in boxing.

When the heck did Bradley lose all his desire?

                  He got those Pacquiao paychecks.

How much did he make for Marquez and Chaves? I think he made 2 million for Chaves right?

154??? Bradley's talent is that he is fast, not a heavy puncher. Going up to 154 will take away his best trait, his quickness and make his worst trait, his lack of power even worse.
