If the PBC has a champion, would they be willing to put together a fight where a non-PBC fighter could beat their champion?
Because that would diminish their title/champion.
Much like vince mcmahon did when he destroyed the wrestling territory system
or how UFC did in MMA..
It will take some years, but eventually they will have ran off all the other promotions and fighters will flock to them..
Mcmahon and dana white knew that once you start co-promoting your only hurting your own brand as people will never look at you as THE TITLE..
By the 2020s Haymon and PBC will be recognized as THE TITLE, much like how UFC and WWE are considered THE TITLE

I can kind of feel some of the sentiment to boxing as it is now because it is the only thing like it around, it is like looking into the past. However, a lot of people complain incessantly about boxing and the only way to change those issues is to burn down the rotten structure and start over.
It could end up a vacant lot or a high rise luxury condo, but it won't be the same rotting structure after.

For all you know he could have advised them to not sign any promotional contracts until PBC was formed. Fighters have qualified managers to look out for them on their behalf and if they see a conflict of interest they would not sign up to do this PBC venture.
And I see no reason why boxing can't be operated as a well regulated sports league with a single champion and a formal ranking system.
Look at the current system:
WBC Champion
WBC Interim Champion
WBA Super Champion
WBA Regular Champion
WBC Interim Champion
IBF Champion
IBF Interim CHampion
WBO Champion
WBO Interim Champion
9 belts x 18 divisions = 162 world champions. Give me a ****ing break. And you're happy with this system?
It's not so difficult to understand.

Al Haymon will either fail completly or he will take over boxing. If he makes this work 20 years from now boxing will be all about PBC like WWE is in wrestling and like UFC is in MMA. He will wipe out sanctioning bodys and promoters that refused to work with him will go bankcrupt. He will own every boxing time slot on every major network and whoever fights outside the PBC brand will be consider minor league. What he is doing is incredible but the execution so far has me thinking it wont work.

Also I expect Mayweather to fight on PBC after his showtime contract is over atleast 1 time. If he is undefeated he will be the one to fight for the PBC belt and make PBC legit.
