This is likely Michel's plan anyway hence the immediate request for the purse bid and no attempts made to negotiate the fight with Main Events.
GYM and Haymon never wanted Kovalev as Stevenson's mandatory and despite paying half-hearted lip-service to it, Stevenson never wanted the Kovalev fight either.
Key phrase from the article from Michel: "The winner of the bid will decide the date, the place and the network"

Duva played right into Haymon's hand. if it does come to HBO and Haymon, hopefully she sides with Haymon Despite her feelings against him. Kovalev is her only known star and Haymon has three names at LHW for him to fight.

We know Beterbiev would fight Kovalev but Beterbiev is high risk low reward right now. I don't know who the other name is you're thinking of.
For all the talk of Stevenson, he's not a draw (5,000 tickets, 294k Sho), a Pascal rematch is probably more lucrative for Kovalev.

Duva herself has talked about how suing is part of the sport and it hasn't prevented her from doing business with the same en****** she has sued in the past. Having a bad relationship with Haymon is not a good excuse.

Wait...so now in Weebler's World (party time, excellent) things like "not a draw" and network disputes are legitimate reasons for fights not to happen? What's next, Pac-Boy with a Floyd avatar?

My understanding is Kovalev is still under contract with HBO and that they're negotiating an extension.
So you're saying the plan is to win the purse bid so Kovalev/Duva back out? I'm all for calling Stevenson a ducker, but this ridiculous level of speculation.
Stevenson has just avoided big fights wit Hopkins and Jean Pascal instead under Haymon's direction opting to fight Fonfara, Sukhotsky and Bika but now we're supposed to buy he wants to fight Kovalev? It wouldn't even be a discussion on the Haymon/GYM side if Main Events hadn't pushed to get Kovalev into the mando spot in first place.
Let's say Main Events win the bid, do you think Haymon lets Stevenson go across to HBO? I'd like to be wrong and the fight happens but I'm sceptical.

I was speaking in terms of the purse bid if Haymon were to win and HBO tells Duva to back off. Stevenson vs Kovalev sells out the Pepsi Center...possibly moved to Olympic Stadium
