Cotto on Canelo fight falling through (Video)

Chavez: " Cotto, here in Mexico some are suggesting that you were afraid to fight Canelo because of his style, I want to hear it directly from you?"

Cotto: "Julio, at this stage in my career, I have faced the very best and there is never any fear...There is nothing special about Canelo, he has 2 arms just like I do...There were some issues we did not agree upon and Canelo went his route and I went mine... It's a fight that I think could be made by years end..."

Chavez: "I personally, did not believe you were scared because I know you...."

Cotto: " Julio, in your career, where you ever afraid of an opponent?"

    Chavez: "Never..."

Cotto: "There are always rumors and varying versions, but I will tell you the real version... We disagreed on certain points during negotiations but we are open to negotiating again..."

Asked about GGG fight, Cotto is open to that fight. Chavez advises Cotto to NOT take that fight above 154lbs MAX and says he would give Cotto a good shot at winning.

Chavez: "If I were Cotto's trainer, I would advise him to take the GGG fight at 154lbs maximum... It's a fight I think Miguel would have a good chance of winning"

On Kirland Vs Canelo: Cotto expects Canelo to win.

On the loss to Pacquaio: "The corner is crucial... Had I had a quality corner after the first knockdown to tell me, " Miguel, not a big deal... Settle down and reset back to zero...This is only the 3rd round...I believe that is the advice Roach would have given me had he been in my corner..."

On who is faster between Floyd and Manny: "I think Manny is faster with both hands and feet..."

On who Cotto would prefer to rematch: Both.

Interesting about Manny's foot and hand speed being greater. Makes the fight all the more interesting.

Cottoroid isn't physically afraid of Canelo, he's afraid of losing to him. 2 different things. He doesn't have the balls Trinidad and Gomez did.

I'm glad the Cotto team finally came to their senses. Canelo is their biggest money fight outside of Pac/May. I expect that they tone down their A-side crap and snobbish attitude this time around. (All they had to do in the first negotiation was communicate civilly and not keep the other side from guessing. If they have Haymon on the other side of the table, then why not say so?)

              Canelo made the right move.
