He stopped because Pascal's countering skills demanded Kovalev to take a more balanced and gingerly approach . Pascal shook Kovalev a couple times in that fight but as u already stated ; people see what they wanna see . Good point !

There is no way in hell Kovalev took the risk of having a fighter doing a comeback on the scorecards just for fun on a fight with 3 belts on the line. Youre actually the one who cant see what happened. Pascal and his team tried to counter the jab and counter Kovalev and it worked some time but Kovalev adjusted, hurt Pascal again and the fight was over.

Pay attention to Kovalev's footwork, how he made Hopkins move into that corner before any punch was thrown. He really didn't have a hard time that night, winning every round, fighting at his own pace and distance.

Why would Sergey dance? Pascal danced for him. Sergey really enjoyed it that last round too, brought out the laughter.

I said there that it was a rare opportunity for Kovalev to fight a top guy like Pascal... And rewatch the whole fight; you'll understand...

(I didn't take Hopkins vs Kovalev seriously -- for me it was a "passing the torch" fight between two gentlemen)...

... And where do you contradict my point of view? Namely that Kovalev wanted to learn the most from this experience in the ring? Did Kovalev lose control at any point?

I'm not saying Kovalev is not good and has no footwork. I regard Kovalev really, really high as fighter. To me he is a top 10 p4p and will reach top 5 pound for pound in my book with wins over Stevenson and Beterbiev. This guy is a beast and the best fighter from 160 lbs and up with Ward. He has the whole package and no weakness to me beside being too open for counterpunches at some time.

But you guys dont get my point, I was answering to a guy saying Kovalev would easily crush a shoulder roll defensive fighter like Floyd, which I totally dont agree with. People always have the misconception that you can beat the shoulder roll easily by being heavy handed, totally ignoring the fact that somebody with really fast feet and good counterpunching, and a LONGER reach that Kovalev could win many points against him. To me it would actually be what could cause Kovalev problems. No fighters can do it right now. Prime Jones was the last super/light heavy with the footwork and fast hands to cause that type of problems, but he's just an old shot bast*$rd now.

Your post suggests that Kovalev wanted to get the most from the experience of fighting such a good fighter in Pascal, and therefore extended the fight. I offer that Kovalev didn't like Pascal, and wanted to destroy him. Why drag it out? Pascal was giving Kovalev a hard time, so Krusher had to be more measured in his attack. Most of Kovalev's previous opponents folded when he put the heat on them, but Pascal fought back until he got stopped. If you notice near the end of the fight, Kovalev realized and pointed out to his corner that Pascal was hurt when he saw him stumble across the ring. That is when he went in for the kill.

Yup! He already had him almost deaf and blind. Another few rds and pascal probably gets his jaw broken or something. He fought tough though. That was a good fight.

I don't see we have an argument here... The fact that Kovalev didn't like Pascal isn't too relevant -- Kovalev usually doesn't like his opponents... But Kovalev wasn't that ****** and kill a fight with a skilled Pascal (who, unfortunately, doesn't have KO power)... What other convenient tests Kov would find out there? Because the pimp and Beterbiev aren't "convenient" at all -- they both hold highly dangerous KO power.
