Of course it matters, Ward has been trying to get HBO to sanction a fight between him and Periban, and HBO are refusing to put the money up after wasting it on the Rodriguez fight.

As for Roc Nation, they are in the business of making money, not throwing it away meaning they have to take account of market forces just like any other promoter. If Ward doesn't fight, he doesn't get paid by anyone.

Either fight Ward in Oakland in front of 5 thousand "fans" who barely know who the two of them are, with little HBO hype and delayed UK TV or fight him in Nottingham in front of 40k wild fans bringing more money and more hype.

what's the issue? Ward has stated multiple times that he'd travel for the right fight. Well the fight is here, STFU, pick your passport, get on the plane and fight - for once.

I'd love to see Froch try and avenge his loss. Chances are he'll lose, but just imagine if he beat Ward. He'd be on the verge of all time greatness.

Sometimes you have to roll the dice. And Ward has to realize that Froch has options. Nobody gives a shyte about the WBA regular belt. Froch is a champion without a crappy belt. He can fight Jr or Hopkins or Groves III or Degale and it'll be on PPV in front of thousands and thousands of people.

Ward's only other option is to go to Denmark and fight Kessler in his backyard for less money.

lol I wish he just kept mouth zipped. Pretty admirable of him to admit but he put himself in a messed up position.

By stating that fighting in Nottingham is an 'Advantage'.......he's essentially explaining why Ward would be CRAZY to go there and fight him particularly after what happended to Kessler. Not saying Kessler clearly one by any means, but it was close and I do believe the homefield advantage helped. They need to settle their 1-1 gig too......

But unless he gets paid substantially more than he would otherwise, Ward is not going to England. And Vegas would draw.......everyone says 'Ward doesn't draw'........well, consider the oppostion. As impressive as the win vs Dawson was, who really likes to watch Dawson fight?

Ward may present 'ugly fights', but they are very gritty. He is using the same people Floyd used before Haymon and now has Roc Nation fully invested. He's very similar to B-Hop, who was never an exciting fighter or a real PPV draw.........but a fight with Froch in Vegas would surprise IMHO.....Froch will draw anywhere. And the people that would turn into watch this fight know Ward is likely the best fighter out there and would still be #2 by a shot if not for the inactivity.

Eventually, that P4P #1 will draw and compared to the last 8-10 years of the consensus essentially being Mayweather, his demeanor and class will be a breath of fresh air. I say that conceding Mayweather has been an absolute genius at self-promotion. But to be real, most people are sick of it.......

It takes two guys to draw. If your Carl Froch and fighting a B-Level opponent, it's not going to be as hot as facing the P4P heir apparent. Which Ward clearly is.

I think Froch is the one less likely to take the fight and I don't blame him. He's got two fights, Chavez Jr. and GGG that could net him substantially and be a good retirement plan. And while GGG is the most avoided fighter at MW, he has admitted he's not quite ready for Ward......and I respect that. But utlimately Ward-GGG is the fight of the future.

Neither guy stands to gain much of anything by taking this fight. Maybe Ward gets vaulted back into top 5 P4P with a win........but ultimately, the fight will pretty much look the same as it did in AC. The crowd won't be so raucous by the 5th-6th round.

Ward will do what he has to do at 168 while he waits for GGG to get ready, and Ward is the ONLY fighter I would pick against GGG today. And probably the only fighter I'd pick against Kovalev as well.

There is plenty down the road for Ward. Plenty. But he's going to have to make concessions as it relates to splits, even though the Lineal Champion should always get at least 60-40.........

If it goes to a Purse Bid as indicated and they are forced to fight, based on Ward as being the face of their promotion and what they did to Roc Nation will take the bid as they did for Quillen-Korobov, and the $2 mil they put up for that fight when neither was their fighter? I think they'll secure the winning bid and team with maybe MSG, Barclays or even the MGM to bring it to the US.....just my opinon. I don't see anyone in Britain outbidding them.....

Oh yea........and if I wasn't clear, Ward wins even more easily. The inactivity at his age is not so bad whereas Froch took some punishment from Kessler and Groves x2.

Ward in an easy UD, possibly TKO by towel stoppage.......

Hearn sounds nervous. Purse bid will be ordered in 25 days.

Green K worthy post will do it once I get my Karma back. I'm a Ward follower and to be honest he's scared to travel outside of USA. If I put myself in his shoes I wouldn't fight outside of USA neither. I'm the lineal champ and the last Golden boy (last USA Gold medalist Boxing I think) plus Rocnation's backing so it would be home advantage all the way. This could be Froch's Vegas superfight if he really wanted that option though.

While I disagree with the notion that this would somehow be a 'ducking' situation by Ward, I do think you have a point in that to get the biggest audience, England is the place.

But for Roc Nation, who seems to be willing to burn a bit of cash to get on the map, I think they'd be willing to spend a bit to make their guy happy and if HBO is smart, they'll promote the schist out of this fight..........Roc Nation now has two of their best draws under contract..........

But if they don't and the fight is indeed ordered, were I Ward, I'd make it clear I'm doing this one time and one time only and ONLY to answer the questions of whether I've still got it and can beat the second best fighter in my division easily again.

After that, any fight at 168, he has to have the bigger say as being the legit SMW Champion, whether is challenger draws better or not.........once he beats Golovkin, EVERYONE will know Ward. And he'll do fine.....
