Comments Thread For: Chavez Sr: Pacquiao is a Tough Fight For Mayweather

The legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. appeared on Golpe a Golpe and discussed very anticipated fight between the two biggest superstars in the sport, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. The fight is taking place on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Some are calling it the biggest fight in boxing history, but Chavez Sr. disagrees with that opinion.

I think it will be tough because of Pacquiao's speed rather than his power. His power is always great but it does not have the snap it once did. Still, I am sure he will rattle him if not put him down at some point. Don't agree with Chavez, Sr. though. I don't think Mayweather is going to win. And if this is not the biggest fight in boxing right now, I would like to know what is.

Sorry Haters, but I could see Manny knocking down Floyd in this fight. Manny will have to knock Floyd at least once and be relentless with his attack in order to win this otherwise he will be another victim for Floyd. The winner will be no doubt the greatest fighter of this generation.

He said it wasn't his favorite fight ever I'm pretty sure. Its not going to be the most watched fight ever, but will definitely shatter every revenue record. Back in the day they had big fights on free t.v. All around the world. A billion people watched the rumble in the jungle. There will likely be far less than that many people that watch this fight. A hundred something million people already watch mannys fights from the phillipines. 4 million ppl will watch it on u.s. Ppv. It will be broadcast internationally and millions will definitely watch it, but not close to the rumble in the jungle or the thrills in manila. With that being said, pacquiao still has the power he used to. Hes been more cautious since his Ko loss, but he still spared algieri, who should have been counted out anyways. He probably could have finished Rios too, but maybe didn't want to risk getting KO'd himself. Manny could potentially knock mayweather out. If maidana can make mayweathers knees buckle with a relatively weak straight right hand, pacquiao could easily find his chin and get some good knickdowns. I highly doubt he would spare mayweather like he spares algiero, Rios, margarito, mosely, and others where pacquiao would stop punching and see if the ref would spare his opponent. Pacquiao would not give mayweather that courtesy. I doubt mayweather has the power to knock pacquiao, despite mayweather saying Alex ariza has given him power. Think that's just talk to keep Manny from swarming all over mayweather like he did to de la Hoya and other greats. Pacquiao will win this fight either by decision or knockout despite you mayweather freaks who dont think anyone can beat mayweather by decision even though he clearly got a gift when Castillo was robbed. Pacquiao is alot better than Castillo, and de la Hoya, and use their gameplans and combine with pacquiaos athletic skulls and boxing ability and execute the blueprints and beat mayweather easily by decision or knockout.

I agree With Sr it's not a big fight cause Pacquaio was knock out by Marquez this fight would have been big 2009 to 2010 This fight is Like Joe Louis Vs Marciano or Larry Holmes vs Muhammad Ali at best

I can see why you're upset. I like Cotto, but you're clearly hurt over how Manny WOOPed his ass.

                  I don't blame you.

This is interesting: "Juan Manuel Marquez said on Mexican tv that Floyd could fake an injury near fight night after Pacquiao has trained hard. Then rearrange it for September." Sounds like a Floyd move.
