I think you do kind of have a point.
There are attributes to a fighter, merits to their achievements which can't be gauged from videos on YouTube. Things can get lost with time.
It doesn't mean fair judgements can't be made to the greatness of a fighter, but we'll never have the complete picture that those who were around at the time had.
Theres fighters we'll appreciate now, more than future generations will in retrospect.

Don't get me wrong -- huge respect to SRR -- Leonard himself (among other luminaries) has said SRR was the best of all time -- but they are all the type of person to respect their elders, so to speak.
But if you watch Youtube you'll see SRR beating up a lot of guys that probably would never have been good enough to get a shot at Leonard. Old school brawlers.
I don't think he ever beat a boxer as slick as Benitez, or knocked out a monster puncher with major boxing skills like Hearns. Or beat anyone as good as Duran.
And I don't think Jake LaMotta was remotely as good as Marvin Hagler.Ascended likes this.

We never actually saw a dinosaur running around either but that doesn't mean they didn't exist, you seem to think because everything that happened in the past wasn't captured on video it doesn't matter or it never happened.
There are plenty of SRR fights out there just not the ones from his best days and they were impressive enough, most people around in his time and after though he was the best as well as many boxing historians, you don't have to agree but you'd be in the minority.

Yeah, no one's answered the core question: Who were the best fighters that SRR defeated? And do they match up to the best fighters Leonard defeated?
