Pacquiao to wear shorts worth $2.25m for Mayweather fight

If only his handlers will have their way, Manny Pacquiao would probably wear long pants instead of the traditional shorts for the May 2 meeting with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in what has been billed as the "Fight of the Century."
The reason is economics. Long pants will carry more logos and more logos mean more money.

The Bulletin learned yesterday that Pacquiao's short pants for the coming fight will have a value of P100 million ($2.25m / ?.5m) after top Philippine companies vied to have their logos on the pants. That would make the pants the most expensive in the world.

"The rate for this fight is different from the previous (fights)," said Pacquiao's business manager Eric Pineda, stressing the difference was like heaven and earth.

"So far, we have six (companies) that will have their logos on Manny's trunks," said Pineda.

Pineda, however, did not identify which companies have signed up for the pants advertisement.

Just about everything about Pacquiao's welterweight war with Floyd Mayweather is huge.

Mayweather is guaranteed $120 million, while Pacquiao is assured of $80 million.

Tickets, which haven't gone on sale less than three weeks before the scheduled 12-rounder at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, will retail for $7,500, $5,000, $3,500, $2,500 and $1,500.

There are seats that cost $10,000 each but only the very influential and the truly opulent and extravagant will get hold of these prized passes.

Even though public sale has yet to start, there are already tickets being peddled online with the cheapest retailing for several times its original price and the borderline floor seat going for over $50,000.

The pay-per-view will sell for $100 and the closed circuit fee will go for $150.

Even the Philippine broadcast rights were sold for $10 million by Solar Sports although proceeds will be divided among the major players, including Mayweather Promotions, Top Rank and Pacquiao.

Upon the request of Pacquiao, Solar Sports agreed to have the fight telecast by the three major networks ?ABS-CBN, GMA and TV5.

Local cable subscribers can also watch the fight commercial-free, without any interruptions, for a hefty fee ranging from P2,000 to P2,500.

Cinemas will also show the fight live for as low as P600 to a high of P1,000.

Finally saw the replay of At Last, man it was beautiful!!! Probably one of the best and most honest documentary I've seen in while. it's definitely right there with ESPN's 30 for 30 Two Escobars (must watch if you're a sports fanatic).

The last meal sequence was hella funny Manny's analogy of Floyd's last meal (Allowing an inmate, this case Floyd to get whatever he wants before his execution like agreeing to the 60/40 split, PED testing etc) was great lol.

Like I've said before, this is either smoke and mirrors from Manny's camp, or something is seriously wrong and Manny isn't the same (and Floyd glides to his usual victory and the fans get cheated big time).... Hopefully it's just smoke and mirrors and Manny is back to being his normal beast...

But I watched the HBO ONE HOUR long documentary "At Last"...last night...and guess what... BARELY any training footage... literally like 10 seconds of mitt work(where Manny doesn't even go full speed(wtf)"....

I don't care how "well produced" it was... "At Last" was a HUGE disappointment...nothing but a boring history lesson about why they had trouble making the fight...that was all it was... No training footage, nothing to get amped up to... waste of time... I can't believe ****in' Floyd is the one providing the fans with quality training footage and not Manny... we must be living in some parallel universe or something...

IF Manny(the humble little reformed Christian) IS trolling the fans(which he pretends to care about) and shows up sluggish and looking like **** on May 2 and Floyd is a beast... just so they can have a rematch... I can no longer support him...

Well, you can cherish Floyd's training footage, if it matters to you so much because that's pretty mmuch going to be the highlight of Floyd in this fight

The promotion for this fight has been horrendous. Mayweather's wannabe bidness ass trying to play promoter just let the pro's and big brains do the promoting, you ain't no damn promoter or bidnessman

You could really see the difference between their production styles. HBO they make you feel like you are part of the story as if you are with the fighters journey all this time and as boxing fan who waited for so long for this to happen while Showtime just tells you a story.
HBO: great production value... Boring content(I could care less about liev schreiber's "inspiring" commentary)... At this point I'll take the lesser production value for some actual training footage... hell... I'll take a cheap digital camera phone if I can get something actually WORTH WATCHING...Biggest fight ever with the WORST build up ever... Go figure...

It doesn't matter to you that Manny is trolling the fans... Cool...

Of course he has been training... they just for some mystical reason, don't want to show it (only in 5 second glimpses, wtf?) Or Freddie holding the Mitts like someone that's never used Mitts before...
