    The bottom line is this:

    The likes of
    Roy/Lennox/Toney/Hopkins/Holyfield/Bowe/Benn/Mccellan/Eubank/Dariuz/
calzaghe/Pernell Whitakker/Oscar/Felix Trinidad/Mccellan/ would do very very well against

    Floyd/Pac/Wlad/Rigo/GGG/Kovalev/Ward/Froch/Cotto/Marquez etc etc

There is no 'evolution' that Alexander ***ing Povetkin have done in comparison to Rid**** Bowe.

    Bowe would brutally murder Povetkin.

    Golota Brutalized Bowe

      Not general statements.

      FACTS!

You don't believe Bolt was quicker than Lewis?

You don't believe weight lifting records are falling despite some obvious drug use in the 70s and 80s

You don't believe the skill levels/ standards have risen in football, snooker, tennis?

If you don't believe, then you are a fool, because it is accepted and measurable.

Are we to really believe that boxing is a special sport that has not improved when all the other sports have.

Those trainers saw or at least heard of Dempsey or Louis and took the sweet science seriously. They were able to study those scientists in the ring and teach it to guys like Roberto Duran.

Hell, Robert Garcia is content with his corner advice consisting of
        "Mas fuerte."
        "More punches."
        "Don't stop."

The lack of truly intelligent and elite trainers is diminishing, even then right now there only a handful of elite fighters that people can truly study the sweet science from. Whereas back in the 40s etc. the skill was so abundant there was so much to learn and so much to innovate off.

We're in an era where men like Broner can make millions fighting sub-par opposition. We're not in the Great Depression. There is no color barrier. You can make much more money at a lower level of skill as opposed to back in the day.

Elite trainers, don't give me that. Great fighters make great trainers, not the other way around.

All these trainers trained boxers, and a few of them became trainers. There methods are not all that because the game has moved on.

            Ronaldo is better than Figo

            Messi is better than Ronaldino

Boxing has not "regressed" so to speak, its just that with fewer gyms today, fewer trainers and fewer fighters some old school techniques and tricks have faded out. as an example thats why a guy like andre ward can school top level guys, he has tricks on the inside which aren't as used today. same reason why a fat old james toney could stand there with HWs like Rahman and Peter.

boxing is not a jump or a running race, its a heavily skill based sport but still has an athletic component.

I cant understand guys who say things like fighters are more powerful today..where are all the punchers then? besides GGG, Wlad K, donaire, Pacquiao...true punchers are few and far between today at the top.

If a puncher like Hearns or Robinson was around today at welter...good god they wouldnt even be able to land a fight.

Boxing gyms are all over the world now, with more fighters turning pro.

Those old tricks don't work as well and there are new tricks and counter tactics these days.

Gloves are more padded these days more protection but we still have some devasting punchers.

If they wore old 6oz horse hair gloves, everyone would be murderous punchers.

                Those sports were always around.

More people boxing today world wide than there has ever been.

And if you are worried about getting your brain beaten in you are never going to be a top boxer.

                      So true.

I don't think we appreciate the current boxers, but ever generation has done the same.

Thinking boxing is at a low point and it was a golden age in the past.
