They are the participants in the sporting event and should be subject to the same standards as everybody else in such a sporting event. Even though this, as boxing fans, is what we have come to expect and accept from world title bouts, it's still ludicrous that a fight would not go ahead because one boxer does not agree to the terms of another boxer. The governing boxing body should have full control over the parameters of the event which should be standardized for all competitors who are ranked by that governing body. If either of the boxers don't agree to the rules under which all other participants should have to abide by, they should be stripped of any rankings and/or titles they may be in possession of.
If boxing ever wants to be taken seriously and considered a legitimate sport by the rest of sporting world, it needs to lay out clear rules and regulations that are enforced in every fight without exception.
The choice of referee, gloves, judges, drug testing and any other essential elements of a professional bout should never be dictated by one of the athletes who are participating. If the parameters of any other legitimate sport were discovered to be augmented by one of the competitors of that sport, there would be strict and severe action taken against such an individual.
Regardless of who is truly responsible for the seemingly eternal delays and unsuccessful attempts to produce Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, this debacle is without a doubt, an embarrassment on the grandest scale, considering the negotiations have gone on this long and still there is no fight scheduled to occur. There are no excuses. This is a travesty of epic proportions and the greatest disservice to the world of boxing that has ever occurred.
Great post and I agree. The problem is the people involved are all making money so there is no incentive to change and make it better. Only when people start losing money will anything change. Not sure when that happens.

They know Manny has a real shot to lose. Showtime would show the replay every weekend for the couple of months.

Pacquiao has already agreed to all of the negotiated terms and nobody has disputed that. Can we say the same about mayweather? The fights might not have all the details worked out amongst the networks but one thing that hasn't been disputed by anyone is the fact that Manny and mayweathers team have agreed to the terms and mayweather hasn't yet. People can say well arum is lying because ShowTime and HBO haven't agreed, well that doesn't even matter unless mayweather agrees to fight in the first place. The terms have already been negotiated #agreetotgetermsmayweather #fughtpacquiao #floydrhymeswithavoid #khanjob #theanswertomanngschallengeseemstoberunsilentrunde ep #takeyourbuttrapinglikeaman #ifuscaredjustsayuscared #itsoktolosetothebest #dontbelikequillenabdstevensonanddannygarcia #youarerenderingyourselfirrelevant #quitbeatingupwomenandthreateningthemwithguns

Does the article said that Floyd agreed to everything?no. So you are the one spinning story here. Networks is another problem aside form Floyd.

Yes, it's good that it's being finalized and is negotiated under closed doors, but regarding Pac and Floyd announcing its a green light. Can be announced NOW.

It's just the ironing out the kinks for tv network joint venture can be done after that.

It brings the hype up and makes fans know that we are not being played for the nth time.

It's amazing he was credible when he said Floyd was holding up the fight but now he's not.

As long as Cotto is available for a fight you can never be sure about Floyd vs Pac
