Golovkin's team need the fight to be on PPV for them to take the risk of putting him in with Ward. They've admitted that. Tom Lofflers words are on record. Stay in denial kid.

Without Ppv this fight probably cannot be financed. When is the last time Hbo committed 5m to a fight, remind me. In any case, if the money is there, why hasnt the A sider made an offer yet?

But hilarious you call me a one trick pony in light of your output in this and other ggg threads. No capacity for self reflection, eh my ******ed friend?

Probably? Lol....it would still be GGG's highest purse without PPV. Golovkin wants to be a PPV star and a win over Andre Ward - America's 2nd best boxer - would catapult him into that bracket.

His team don't want to take that risk though. And it would be a huge risk so I don't blame them.

You make the assumption Ward would accept the fight for around $2-2.5mill. Golovkin could take short money like Kovalev did with Hopkins ($500k to $1.5mill) or even a little more than the Ward-Rodriguez pot of $3.25mill. Ward won't take it. HBO had to force Ward to fight Rodriguez. Because of his layoff from surgery, he wanted Caleb Truax or Dmitri Sartison, HBO told him no way with his $1.75mill guarantee, so he balked for a half-million more to fight Rodriguez (recieved $2.25mill).

Like I said before, if K2 offered Ward the May 16th date, Ward would turn it down for multiple reasons. This is still the same guy who rejected a fight with Bute in Oakland and instead signed to fight Kelly Pavlik and who said he would move up for one fight at 175lb to fight Hopkins and then turns down a 170lb catch weight with Chad Dawson after Dawson beat Hopkins.

Right now both guys are saying they'll fight one another, Golovkin says the fight's not ready and Ward pretends Golovkin's not ready.

No money? If both parties were willing then HBO would put up a lot of money for the fight. However, only one side is willing to take that risk. I don't remember Ward saying it doesn't make financial sense, do you?

I thought I was the one making assumptions?

All I'm going by is what each camp has said. Tom Loeffler's matter of fact statements make it easy to see that his charge is not ready for the fight.

Would? I'll take it on your authority, mr windup ******. But you didnt remind me, when is the last time Hbo committed 5m for a non ppv? And if they are, why isnt money man Ward sending an offer for 2m, like Top Rank? That would make financial sense.

Actually both Ward and his trainer have said that fight needs to be built up. His trainer also denied any callout emailed to Hbo ("not Andre's style") and said theyd want 2 tuneups. Thats willing like those t shirts that say "I want ggg, but not next"

I assume you're talking about the proposed GGG-Chavez fight. The difference is that both sides were willing to make that fight unlike in this situation where one (GGG's) is reluctant.
