LOL, I can see Haymon offering 20 mil to Cotto, not 40 though.

1 thing for sure is Haymon and Floyd are going to desperate measures to secure that Cinco de Mayo date.

Many boxing insiders believe a bout between Alvarez and Cotto is the second biggest matchup that can be made in today’s current world of boxing outside of a Mayweather-Pacquiao bout. If Cotto-Canelo does in fact come into fruition it would force Mayweather’s hand to either fight Pacquiao, or to call an end to his “Cinco De Mayweather” weekend.

Oscar De La Hoya has been assertive that the only bout that would push Cotto-Canelo away from May 2nd is a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. It is becoming more and more abundantly clear, there are many hurdles several parties will have to overcome in order to make the biggest fight in boxing a reality. HBO, Showtime, Top Rank, Al Haymon, CBS, and Mayweather Promotions will all have to come into alignment, thus making the possibility of the bout occurring quite slim.

If no compromise is reached, Mayweather will undoubtedly be left without a good enough dance partner to push away Cotto-Canelo from May 2nd. The only other viable option Mayweather has is in order to maintain the same date, is to offer a deal to Cotto’s camp for a possible rematch, and according mrboxingpr.com, that’s exactly what he has done. Al Haymon along with Mayweather’s team has offered Miguel Cotto 40 million dollars for a rematch. There has been no confirmation from either camp to prove this is in fact true, but it has certainly stirred up plenty of talk in the boxing world.
I dont understand, if May is willing to offer Cotto 40 mill, wont it be ridiculous if he tries to defend the 40 mil offer for Pacquiao...not even his friends and fans should be able to defend that.

Lol yeah that's not going to happen. Nobody wants this fight to happen.

I want to see Cotto Canelo

Its BS if it's for one fight but I can see this being a packaged deal with Haymon or even a rematch clause should he win. If Cotto were to beat Floyd the rematch could hit over 2 million buys. It's obvious Floyd's side is in talks with Cotto or the Canelo deal probably would have been done already, I'm not sure which fight ends up happening.

And what of that rumor bopping around the Twittersphere, that Team Mayweather has offered Cotto a $40 million guarantee to sign for a rematch with "Money." It looks to me like that nugget came forth from an entity called "Mr. Boxing PR"...

                So, true? False? Furiously false?

"No truth to the rumor as to the offer for Floyd Mayweather rematch," Penagaricano told me.

40 million would have to be for a signing deal..Mayweather and Cotto are in talks people do not be fooled..that is why the canelo talks are on hold and anything that is leaked will be said to be false, just like when there were talks of him fighting Ortiz and he kept saying it was false...trust they are in talks

40 million would have to be for a package deal not 1 fight..the numbers may not be true but they are talking about a rematch
