Yes, but he was talking about PPV only. Plus we don't know who has their hands into which revenue streams and at what percentage - fighters, promoters, networks, etc.
Mayweather-Cotto 2 would be a great alternative if Bob insists that Pacquiao fights Vargas.
Bob doesn't want Pacquiao to fight Vargas. That's like the least desirable option. He can match Pacquiao up with lesser opposition in Macau because the site fee they get is the major source of revenue...PPV is second. Vargas would be a Macau type fight, and even then he would need to be coming off a decent win (ala Algeri).
When the fight is in the US, you need a desirable opponent to do decent #s on PPV, since that is the primary revenue source. He'll need to maneuver to bring in a new welterweight, or find a sellable option at junior welterweight. If Top Rank didn't have the flexibility of moving Pacquiao back to 140 they would be in a pickle. But that flexibility should save them if they can't get Mayweather to fight.
The distributors (cable, satellite, etc) take 50% off the top. So if your math is good, that $105m is only $52.5m
I understand. Was just doing basic numbers to demonstrate the money involved. There are many other revenue streams in a big fight. Gate, merchandise, food and drink etc. there are many more millions involved beyond ppv. Point is they can pay Floyd 32 and cotto 20 and still make a sizable profit. Methinks anyway.
will wait to see how this plays out..i do know floyds team is talking to cotto behind closed doors and that is why he has not signed to fight canelo...floyd trying to teach Oscar,Arum and Hbo a lesson right now
