Golovkin uses the same reasoning to not fight Andre Ward even though Ward makes more money than him and would bring him his highest purse.

This guy... geez he's sounding kind of delusional and quite full of himself. If that isn't a blatant duck I'm not sure what is. I give him credit for doing well moving up the ladder, but why did he vacate his title if not to duck GGG?
I'm looking at some of the top 10-15 MW lists trying to figure out who this guy WOULD logically beat. He'd probably beat Sergio, N'Dam, Saunders, Soliman, Korobov, Mora...
But he'd have a tough time with Cotto, GGG (obviously), Murray, Geale, Lemieux, Lee, Tureano Johnson, Taylor, Charlo.
It will be interesting to see who King Haymon comes up with for an opponent for the guy. Guessing it'll be a soft touch.

disturbing on many levels. Fought his a$$ off to get a title, you pursue a title because as you defend it you make more $ ! His advisor who's sole job is to do business in your best interest advises you to not take the fight, and relinquish your hard earned title? Then in an interview I read that he has no fights lined up, and he was told to enjoy his daughter... WTF is that? GGG brings no $ to the table???? Don't worry about what he brings to the table, the networks will bring the $ because they want ratings and big fights drum in ratings.. if this was the 80's or 90's they would be working on the rematch.. if boxing wasn't so shady these fighters would be training and fighting instead trying to be astute business men, its hard to do both - cats like Floyd / Manny / RJJ / de la Hoya - they earned their chops and can afford a team to handle their affairs - but Kid Quillin - shyt he better get him an attorney he can sue Haymon , and don't let the motive come out, don't let it be a move that benefits Haymon without any benefits for the client. See there should be a title fight with around the same amount of $ being offer to Quillin, if his next fight is not for 7 figures and he was willing, able, and ready to defend his title against Matt Korobov on said date - he got himself a case....

In Peter Quillin's defense -
When Roc Nation won the purse bid, Quillin was excited about it and sound like he had every intention of taking the fight. Then there was a delay, a meeting with Haymon occurred and then Quillin gave up his belt. Allegedly Quillin recieved $500k to turn down the offer (likely so he can't sue Al Haymon at a later date). Haymon's left Quillin to spin off lame *ss reasons on why he turned it down - uncle has cancer, new kid, Korobov not big enough.
It's in the contract of all Haymon fighters that he has VETO power over what fights the fighters are allowed to take.
- Roc Nations offered Deontay Wilder a multi-million dollar offer which Haymon had him reject out right.
- Thurman, who's already in Haymon's dog house reject his multi-million dollar Roc Nation offer before even getting Haymon involved.
- None of those three fighters are making close to the money that Haymon forced them to turn down.

One guy is an Nsb Darling and the other is an NSB villain hence the different reactions to almost identical statements.
