I think Roach is going to send Cotto moving towards Canelo when really imo he should fight him off the backfoot. In saying that, I still favor Cotto.

I agree. Cotto can be technical, he can ****, and he also has far more experience than Canelo.

I was picking Martinez as well, though rooting for Cotto. Point being is that these are pros. I am not. Are you? A team with the collective experience of Cotto and Roach are not gonna' take a fight that they don't see some way to score the win. They both know Cotto can be wobbled and that Canelo has pretty good power. Think they are not putting their heads together to mitigate that risk? Think Cotto wants to take a brutal and protracted beating at this stage of his career?

Mostly I am objecting to the "common knowledge" comment.

        Seems a bit harsh.

I don't think Canelo has the style to beat Cotto, I honestly don't, and I agree that Cotto is more technical. Canelo is bigger though and maybe a bit faster, a bit fresher too, and those ingredients could be the equaliser. I think it's very competitive no matter who you pick.

Normally when Cotto is allowed to fight at his own pace he has a good night, and Canelo doesn't really set a pace, but I think Canelo will be a much stronger fighter at 160.

I've said this for years, even when Trout beat Cotto, Canelo doesn't have enough or know enough to beat Cotto until Cotto is completely shot.

Cotto is, even at this stage, quicker then Canelo, has better footwork, probably hits harder and is far smarter in the ring. Canelo is big and strong but his size is often overestimated, the guy is 5'7''. Cotto will out work him and win.

I think Cotto beats Canelo as well. Think he's just the better fighter.

Ok, maybe I overreacted a little but I do believe Cotto is very overrated these days.

I feel pretty confident Alvarez wins. Cotto's defense isn't good enough for Alvarez's offense and size.

between the two, there is absolutely no question who is the more technical fighter.

cotto won't be standing in front of canelo, that'd be to canelos advantage. canelo has both speed and power so he'll be doing the angles / back foot thing and reset but can he do that for the 12?

... I don't know who beats who, actually...
... What I do know is that Canelo will win by "a hard fought decision"...
... And I will put some money on this, in case the fight happens.
