because that offer was an obvious low-ball offer from Showtime. after taking into account how many entrepreneurs would invest their own money into assisting in the promotion of this fight, something as silly as 40 million + a PPV cut is laughable

remember, using the "Manny never made this much in his career" excuse is ridiculous. Floyd has never made this kind of money before either. Both guys need each other to generate this kind of revenue, a real negotiation needs to take place between CBS, HBO, Top Rank and Al Haymon

-Floyd vs. Khan(assuming he gets by Devon Alexander) is a big fight [+$70m on PPV, +14m at the live gate in Vegas, +$10m-$15m on British PPV, and add in the money from sponsors, closed circuit/theaters/restaurants, other TV rights fees, merch, etc]

-Floyd vs Danny "Swift" Garcia(assuming he gets by his early 2015 fight) is a big fight, especially if you consider the massive site fee that would be offered by Barclays Center.

-Floyd vs Miguel Cotto 2 is a big fight [+$90m on PPV]

All three fights that will potentially net Mayweather taking $40m-$50m purses, with Arum not getting a penny.

On top of that, you still potentially have Mayweather vs Alvarez 2 (in September 2015), another massive fight that Arum would not get a piece of.
