Don't do it Jhonny or we'll hate you forever. Mares, Loma, Walters... are all entertaining / money making fights. Rigo is boring, will run all night and you'll be fighting before 300 people starring at an ugly ratatouille looking mawfoka making absolutely no money at all.

Fair enough, give me some examples of fights where the weigh-in took place the day of the fight as the poster I quoted suggests should happen.

Weigh-in day is regulated by State law, so that could not be changed without act from the legislature. The fight would have to take place in a State that has same day weigh-ins, such as Pennsylvania. (or overseas perhaps, where the rules are different)

No way Bob lets Gonzo fight Rigo, he'll throw mad money at Gonzo for that belt.

My main point: catch-weight agreements are very common.

You are making a very strong case for his third suggestion... i see.

No, I can't give you examples of 'same day' weigh-ins, and neither will it happen anytime soon, (I think) You got me on that one. Can you imagine if Jhonny Gonzalez ACTUALLY had to fight at his fighting weight like Rigo pretty much does?

"Rigo is one of the options". Translation, not an option. How many fighters can blatantly duck Rigo anymore than already have?

People will stand behind the "high risk low reward" notion and defend it vigorously.

This is a new era of fans.

It's ok if the best get avoided, how dare they pose a threat to my less talented fighter which brings in more moola'...

Which is what I meant by changing the rules of having to weigh-in the same day to appease Rigondeauxs career as the guy who I quoted suggested. I know how common cathweights are and how they work. I wasn't making a case for anything simply pointing out how ridicolous and far fetched a same day weigh-in for that fight would be.

Could you imagine if everybody had to fight at their actual weight? There would be only like five guys who wouldn't need to move up.
