Comments Thread For: Team Gonzalez: Rigondeaux is One of Several Options

By the time key team members for Guillermo Rigondeaux can figure out how to get on the same page, it’s entirely possible that Jhonny Gonzalez will have already moved on to new business.

The unbeaten World super bantamweight champion was – as suggested by his promoter Boris Arencibia as told to krikya360.com's Ryan Burton – eying a move up in weight for the sake of securing a big fight. Topping the list were featherweight titlists Gonzalez and Vasyl Lomachenko.

Fight Rigo at 126 , but no more than 10 pounds fight night . If Johnny can stay within 126- 136 fight night , rigo will absolutely fight you . Rigondeaux already is smaller and will have less weight in this match . Rigo will school you , and you know it .
Another choice : catch weight at 124 ? Rigo up 2 and you down 2 ? Sounds fair right ?

Or fight at 126 and make weight the same day of the fight . What about that ? Like in the amateurs , so you don't come over 140 pounds .

Hit and not be hit ; you can not hit what you don't see .

I didn't know beggars could be choosers.
Gonzalez doesn't need Rigo, to make good fights, it's Rigo, who needs an opponent. Gonzalez won't be dictated to by a guy whom Showtime or HBO don't want to touch.

If Rigo wants the fight it will be on Gonzalez terms.

Unfortunately it's so typical for a fighter of Rigo's caliber to have his career hurt by Business.

The other belt holders at 122 should be labelled as belt holders, literally. Not true champs.

At 126, I'd like same-day weigh-in, late afternoon. If a fighter then wants to ******ly rehydrate until fight time, have at it.

Johnny stops Rigo the way Kostya stopped Judah. Book it.

So were going to change and modify rules simply for Rigondeaux? Forget the fact he schools him, your still not confident enough he can do it without controlling weight.

what kind of conditions are those? gonzalez isnt just any fighter, he's the champ and shouldnt have to come in at a certain weight and feel weak all to accomodate another fighter, if rigo is too small for 126 so just stay at 122, nobody needs to be doing this for him, gonzalez has big fights he can take at 126

You would think that this would be pretty self explanatory but not to these Rigo nuts.

I don't understand these same-day weigh in/rehydration limit demands. Like it or not, this is the day-before weigh in era. The same rules should apply to anyone.

Bashing a fighter for rehydrating to a higher weight is unfair and frankly ******, because unless you only support Floyd, Manny, Hopkins, Froch or Rigo, one of your favourite fighters is doing it, too. (And even Floyd and Manny were doing it at the lower weights.)
