What I don't understand is this, if he really wanna fight Manny, does it matter if his broke? You will go to the ring to beat the hell out of each other not show the paying public who's richer between the two of you.

For the record, Pacquiao is way loaded than Maidana and any the other guys he fought with the exception of Oscar and yet he fought them.

He said Pacquiao's PPV is a joke when most of the time Manny comes 2nd in PPV numbers behind him.

I thought he is all about business and money, why not fight the guy who can give you the most earnings you'll ever have in your career.

His been blabbing about easily beating the guy then why not fight him already. Stop with all the talking and start fighting. Walk the talk Floyd.

This is exactly what I am trying to say. I understand that the difficulty in this fight coming off hasn't ALL been Floyd's fault, but to take this angle on the money side of things is pathetic and it bothers me to see fans of the sport try and defend it because they like Floyd.

I like Floyd and Manny both, but with this particular situation here we have Manny saying he would fight and Floyd turning his face up at Manny's money, and that is embarrassing for us to have to see from someone who is arguably our top fighter.

It's not like he even came out and responded to Manny's comment and said 'Ok, we can fight but I want 60-40 blah blah', or any comment remotely close to a negotiation standpoint, Instead as a reaction to Manny saying he would fight him he dove straight in with a 'No coz he is desperate for money' attitude. It's pathetic and seems to me that more and more people are slowly seeing that for what it is.
Yeah, Floyd could have said then lets fight then but after the Marcos Maidana fight when he was asked he did say that Pacquiao had to get past Algerie or whatever Pacquiao's next opponent name is but regardless they need to fight and that is without debate.

I have this as a sig because frankly I'm tired of people being blind to what is reality and truth because of personal out looks and views about the situation. Lets be real about the Maidana fights. First fight the other referee (Tony Weeks) let Maidana get away with kicking Mayweather and not to mention tackling him, headbutting and doing all other dirty tactics to win.

And I could remember Maidana saying the gloves were not an issue if he had proper time to train in them (rematch) but in the first fight Maidana got caught with illegal gloves and Floyd got nervous and didn't let him wear the same gloves which were deemed legal. Dude got spooked and could you blame him if someone tried to go into a fight with gloves with less padding in them? All the blame always goes to Floyd but Maidana made it that way. He is a grown man and must accept responsibility for his actions as well because prior to that...... Mayweather was going to let him wear the gloves he preferred in the first fight.
You didnt even answer the question.

There was nothing wrong with the custom gloves in the first fight, even the everlast rep present said that the only difference with the custom gloves is that they were a different color.

Mayweather was never spooked, he was just playing mind games and the commission bent to his will, if the gloves were truly illegal then maidana would have been suspended from boxing for a year or two.

The truth is that maidana had very little chance of winning the rematch becuase all of floyd's demands but fanboys like you think otherwise (im not saying maidana would or won but the fight would have been at least entertaining if it was close to a level playing field).

And thus is what makes you a fanboy.

True. The whole 'Lets see if he gets past his next opponent' thing is a lot better of a standpoint (If he means it) than turning up his nose at potential opponents estates. Just as it is good for Manny to say he would fight Floyd if he means it too. I would just rather hear the main guys from this sport say they would fight each other happily than take swipes over who has/creates more revenue.

The thing is with the other fighters Floyd fight's they know they're second billing. Whereas with Manny many see them as equals, Floyd will take every opportunity to disprove that (outside the ring), hence the ridiculing.

It bothers me beyond belief that this crap is still going on. They should have fought years ago, when there was more to gain for the winner and less to lose for the loser. If it's the last fight of either or both of their career's, then it will end up defining them completely. Seeing as both are obsessed with their legacies, Floyd in particular, they've completely screwed this up.

I think either fighter could make this fight happen and eventually I think it will, because it's getting to the point where both fighters should realise that what will actually define the both of them is the fact that they didn't fight each other. The political/personal bull**** as to why they didn't will be irrelevant, all that will matter is that they didn't make it happen.

Damn right. Like the writers and historians today speak of great and legendary fights that defined an era or a fighters legacy etc..Fights such as the ones between Robinson-LaMotta, Ali-Frazier, Leonard/Hearns/Duran/Hagler, Gatti-Ward...In the future they would speak of Mayweather-Pacquiao as a legendary bout (or series of bouts) between rivals that DIDNT happen, and that is a shame to say the least.

The first Everlast gloves were deemed to have less padding in them but not the second.

                    Good post.

I think they probably did have more to lose in 2010 than they do now. Both were at or near the peak of their powers and were huge draws. A loss in that fight would have had a major impact on their careers. For one of them the aura of invincibility would have been shattered.

At this point I actually think a win or a loss is much less significant. Both are clearly post-prime and the question will always be asked 'what if he fought him in 2010?'.

I'm a fan of Floyd's when he is in the ring but I'm getting pretty sick of this Pacquiao crap. Just fight him already. Floyd gets to do whatever he wants. If he wants to fight Pac it would happen. So Floyd fans stop making excuses for him. I'm pretty sure we will never see it unless it happens after one or both come back after retirement. Then it will be like SRL vs Duran III where even some boxing fans didn't realize happened.
