Mayweather Jr. vs Cotto on Cinco de Mayo 2015?

There were rumors about a Canelo vs Cotto fight on Cinco de Mayo 2015 -- i.e. the same day Mayweather Jr. is fighting every year.

According to Fighthype.com, Floyd Mayweather will not defend his WBA/WBC junior middleweight titles this Saturday against Marcos Maidana.

This is a outstanding message that, next May, Floyd Mayweather will take either a Canelo or a Cotto rematch...

In my opinion, Mayweather would rather look for the Cotto fight with the 154 and 160 belts on the table...

Does anybody know if Floyd Mayweather's WBA/WBC junior middleweight belts are still on the table for this Saturday fight?

I found a link which mentioned fighthype.com as source that Floyd isn't going to defend those belts... I've checked the news but there are no other references on this issue...

As far as I know, Floyd's four belts will be at stake. However, seeing a Cotto rematch in May wouldnt surprise me.
While many felt a Cotto vs Canelo fight in may would force Floyd into a Pac fight in order to be competitive, I thought Floyd would have tried to snatch Cotto out of Canelo's hands, you have to figure that middleweight belt and a solid pay day would be extremely appealing for Floyd

Floyd knows Cotto vs Canelo would be huge on Cinco de Mayo 2015. I can definitely see Floyd trying to take that fight away from Canelo and fight Cotto on that date for the MW title.

The only caveat would be that Cotto knows he would lose and may think he has a better shot at beating Canelo (who he would lose to as well)
Cotto turned down more money this year to fight Canelo and opted to cherry pick a 40 year old Martinez coming off two knee surgeries. Cotto won't just run toward the highest paycheck. He could arguably get just as much of a guarantee against Canelo that he would against Floyd.

Its a fair point but both cotto and canelo underperformed last year on ppv. Its not that the numbers were terrible-its that both had been in really huge ppv fights with Floyd and they didn't seem to get any "rub" from that.

If you are Miguel Cotto and his people-which fight do you think they prefer? I understand the Mexican v PR rivalry angle and canelo is easier to beat than Floyd. The money is significantly different.

There is no guarantee that cotto/canelo does 500k on ppv.
