In a fair fight, Mayweather would have lost to Maidana. I don't get the point. Of course, clinching has become one of the main tactics employed nowadays. If you're the clincher, you would hope the ref would tolerate it. Otherwise, you're screwed. If you're Mayweather you get all the advantages, including the ref.
Of course, casuals, who comprise the majority of the audience, hate clinchers. And they grit their teeth in frustration when the ref does nothing about it. THEY NEED to do something about it. Maybe they could sneak eggs, paper rocks, rubber balls, anything to throw when the ref is not doing his job.
