Comments Thread For: Maidana: Mayweather Not as Difficult, Can't Avoid a Jab

There is only a month left until the rematch between pound for pound king Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Marcos “Chino” Maidana takes place in Las Vegas, NV at the MGM Grand. Both fighters are deep in training camp but Maidana took a small break to talk to the media on Saturday afternoon in Carson, CA.

I'm not dis*****g this but Canelo has a good quick/sharp jab, why did it never land?

Well, it would've been nice if you had developed a decent jab throughout your career.
Floyd can make adjustments if the jab becomes predominant.

      Cotto knows that.

Yeah I'm a little confused by maidana's statement here. But to be fair canelo was a little wary at times during that fight. I think mayweather, like a lot of us, was very surprised when maidana just went balls to the wall.

As much as i respect Marcos Maidana as a fighter, I honestly feel that if he was going to defeat Floyd it would have happened the first fight. There's no way he's going to be allowed to be a physical as he was in the first fight; he'll lose points for sure this time. If he tries to box he'll be even worse off. If he can stay composed he'll have a shot but it's difficult when Floyd's main objective is to frustrate you into making mistakes.

How true it is or not, this is simply gamesmanship by Maidana. Looking to make Mayweather out to not be "as good as everyone thinks" and possibly try to get Mayweather Jr. himself question his ability to handle a jab.

He's only been undefeated in 16+ years as a pro, been hit with jabs, right hands, left hooks, etc...I don't expect Maidana's comments to work.

Floyd just gets in the ring, does his routine to the best of his ability and fights at his own pace which in turn usually slows his opponents down.

Actually, Floyd was expecting it and trained accordingly. Which is why he was never in danger nor appeared hurt by Maidana's onslaught.

That's true now that you mention it. Tbh I don 'to see the point in this rematch. Maidana will try the same approach.

IMO Canelo landed more meaningful shots on Floyd than Maidana.
