who is the number 1 super middleweight in the word-FROCH OR WARD

Since the 115-113 close decision to Andre ward, froch has beaten bute, mack, kessler and george groves twice. He has won 4/5 by ko and nearly stopped kessler.

Ward has beaten weight drained shot fighter in Dawson, and rodriguez, who i honestly dont know who he is,in a boring decision. If this was any other ranking sport, froch would be ahead, but because of the close head to head loss, froch is behind.

With froch fighting degale or chavez junior either in Jnauary or nov, he would have fought 6 times to wards 2 opponents. With better competition.

So who you have as number 1?

I have been quite pissed at Ward for a while because he's not fighting and he hasn't fought a good SMW since Froch in 2011.

And I have been on record for saying I considered Froch #1. But I have to take that back, Ward is still #1.

But if he doesn't fight in 2014/early 2015 - It's just impossible to justify it.

I don't think anyone who has a half decent understanding of boxing scored it as close as 115-113, the two judges did Froch justice there.

Froch is my favorite fighter but Andre Ward is still #1 imo.

that was done solely to protect him and his ilk who vote for froch.

this thread disputes the notin that there are no ****** questions.

                Question.

How do you know who George Groves and Yusaf Mack are but not Edwin Rodriguez when Edwin Rodriguez clearly has the better resume than both guys? Heck, Rodriguez completely blew thru a guy in Grachev that arguably defeated Bute, beat Sillah and Zsold Erdei. But you don't know who he is, but you know who Yusaf Mack and George Groves are?

Chad Dawson (borderline HOF'er) asked to go to SMW; no one made him or asked him to do that. Please don't take away from that great victory by Ward.

So to answer your question, Froch/Dawson/Rodriguez >>> Bute/Kessler/Groves.

I will give Froch the advantage of activity over the last few years, but that's where it stops. Let's not forget that Froch's first win over Groves was highly disputed as he was losing the fight on all 3 scorecards before that paid off stoppage.

It just baffles me how you don't who Edwin Rodriguez is, but hype Froch's single victory over Groves so much. Groves sole claim to fame was his close SD victory over James DeGale.

Not to mention, Carl Froch "refuses" to fight Ward in a rematch even if he could.

Lastly, let me be clear. Carl Froch is a bonafide Hall of Famer without a shadow of a doubt; he's a true warrior and for what it's worth, a fighter I respect greatly. But trying to replace Andre Ward as the #1 SMW because he's not very active and many people don't like him is erroneous.

It's been 3 years since Ward fought a live body. In that period Froch has continued his fantastic streak. There must be a time where you can no longer justify having Ward on top based on a win a very long time ago. Given Froch's massive advantage in opposition faced since their bout I think Froch should be on top now. Ward cannot just fight windowcleaners and janitors on a yearly basis and expect to maintain the top slot based on the Froch win.
