HBO Pay-Per-View will carry the fight.

Algieri became a frontrunner for Pacquiao when he scored an unexpected twelve round split decision victory over the heavily favored Ruslan Provodnikov last month at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

After having some time to think about it, I'm actually somewhat intrigued by this fight.

I like Algeiri. I think he's a good boxer and has a lot of potential. He has good footwork, throws nice combos, has a great jab and is just a good fundamentally sound boxer. Provodnikov is no pushover and took Bradley into deep waters. After the 1st round, I thought Algeri handled him pretty convincingly.

Now it does suck because 1. There are much better fights out there for Pac and 2. This may be too much, too early for Algeiri. But as far as the matchup itself, I'm not crazed about it, I'm not paying for it, but I'm interested. I want to see Pac hunt down a boxer.

But what gets me, is Provodnikov vs. Pac was THE fight to make. Well, Algeiri Provodnikov so now what?

I'm watching Algieri-Peralta on demand right now... Manny is going to hurt this kid. He's constantly getting pieced up by a slow, novice level boxer. He might have had a one trick pony like Provodnikov's number, but Pacquiao will leave him dreaming.

Algieri by SD. He's got a good work rate, very well conditioned, much longer, adversity (like getting his eye socket bludgeoned in the first round) is nothing to him, he's got a Tim Bradley-like work ethic in training camp, and he is too smart for Pacquiao IMO.

Of the many Algieri fights I have watched that Peralta fight was one of his weaker performances I agree, but Algieri also pulled away in the late rounds and won that fight by a large margin. It wasn't a close fight. Also I like to look at a fighters last 3 performances and to go back farther than that has little bearing on anything to be honest. What is clear however in watching his fights as well as talking with people in his camp is that Algieri is a steadily improving fighter who is now entering the prime of his career. Pacquiao while still great and coming off 2 dominant performances against Rios and Bradley after being knocked unconscious against Marquez is on the downside of his career. Algieri is a very smart skillful fighter who is clearly an exceptional athlete when you look into his accomplishments in his life. He has heart in spades and a very driven and focused unbeaten Champion with the opportunity of a lifetime in front of him in a win-win situation. Someone once said "be careful of a man who has nothing to lose" he is supposed to lose (just like he was for his last 2 fights) and has stepped up to the challenge as he has stepped up in competition. This is the ultimate test for him leaving his comfort zone of NY to fight one of boxing ' s best in China where he is loved and adored. Location advantage goes to Pacquiao as does experience obviously and I'm not sure who the faster fighter is (we will only know for sure November 22nd) but age, height, Reach and yes fighting style I give to Algieri. This is a VERY intriguing match up that I think may shock the boxing world. I think this kid is WAY better than people realize. What is telling is you have a guy like Brandon Rios (who fought Pac in Macau and has trained and sparred with Algieri) saying this will be a great fight ...that tells me me that people are sleeping on Algieri. This is a very interesting fight. If Algieri loses he is supposed to but if he goes to China and wins then boxing has a new bona-fide undefeated 2 division Champion superstar.
