Do you guys think Krusher should look to pressure hard/fast in the early rounds? Or do you guys think Hopkins will surprise us and pressure early? I feel whoever wins the first 3-4 rounds gives themselves a much easier night.Last edited by kiaba360; 08-03-2014, 02:22 PM.

TBE doe!
But I have and always will, admire Hopkins boxing ability, his change in style over the years, his longevity (easily the greatest in all of sports) and the fact that he has often fought the best. Floyd has impressive skills himself and pretty decent longevity although fighting into the late 30s is no longer the biggest deal but he has rarely, if ever, tested himself against truly dangerous opponents.
Hopkins faced off against Tito when Tito was the eater of worlds, he was supposed to annihilate an old Hopkins...yeah dude was considered old even then lol That solidified his place as the true middleweight champion of the world, the first one since Leonard, in a division which had for so long been fractured with Barkley, Toney, Jones etc. Hopkins at one stage held all the available belts and looked impressive doing it.
Yes he had moments when he lost to Taylor and both fights were damn close but so what? People tend to forget how hot Taylor was back then and he wasn't a slouch, he was a top level, elite fighter, no B- level could have beaten Hopkins twice, let's get real now.
After that, when we all said Hopkins was done, he moved up to beat Tarver, the man who had KO Jones and was the leading LHW on the planet. Hopkins, at 40??? or late 30s can't remember, beat a guy damn near his prime and the lenial LHW champion on the planet, quite easily. Hopkins would then, in his 40s, face the likes of Calzaghe, Pavlik, Pascal and Dawson. He lost a very close decision to Calzaghe, beat Pascal and beat Pavlik, a guy who even though moving up in weight, was an odds on favourite.
Hopkins made him look like a child. Then he lost an ugly fight to Dawson, a huge LHW who could box a bit himself. But he has since gone on to beat 2 more titlists and is now aiming to fight the most feared man in the division and will, before he is even 50, end up with 3 of the 4 belts at 175lb.
Doesn't all that make him better than Floyd? Most of his best wins and performances were some 10 years ago. He has shown bright sparks since but nothing that sticks.

Honestly, it drives me a little crazy that people rank Hopkins above Floyd and/or Roy.
I mean, really? The only argument is longevity. You sure as hell can't say that based on who Hopkins has beaten.

IronDan thinks he knows but he don't
Floyd's resume has much more quality than Hopkins has. Hopkins has longevity on his side, but Floyd is also nearly 40 and in my opinion is fighting a lot better opponents than Hopkins is. Hopkins is great, no doubt. But Floyd is that little greater and a lot better.

The bottom line is that if u wouldn't put Floyd over someone based off a win like that then don't try to do it in reverse?
Whether or not he will be able to fight the competition that can propel him to that level is another thing.

BH is greater. He Is fighting Kovalev whilst Floyd didn't want none of Sergio or GGG. Floyd requested Maidana cant wear the gloves he wants, whereas Kovalev who probably hits a bit harder than Maidana is allowed to wear what he wears. Floyd should be penalised for not taking risks.
The best FLoyd can come up with when asked if he will fight Sergio, I don't know what the future holds? The future holds Miguel fighting Sergio and ripping his crown from him, and Floyd cherry picks Maidana and not allowing him to wear his gloves that's what the future held.
