here's what happened:
floyd's team refuses a pair of gloves from the factory, the same MX glove that dozens of top fighters wear.
he tells team chino to use his gloves, or not to fight. he also tells them that he will pay them for using the gloves with more padding.
team chino, lacking any other option, takes the money.

they couldn't just tell floyd that they're wearing MX. they couldn't risk losing that fight, which is what they'd be doing.

the first set of gloves had an argentinian color scheme. they were comission approved, and came straight from the factory. mayweather refused them, and every other MX glove.

MX gloves for chino were in the freaking contract. floyd literally paid to keep chino out of them.

glove gate happened. it's a black eye on mayweather's legacy. floyd will not be known as a fighter who took all comers, but a fighter who was moved deliberately.

Loses the lawsuit? Floyd would have gotten sued by the MGM Grand, every single sponser involved in the event, Showtime, and team Maidana. Not only will Floyd not make his $32mil guarantee, he will have to pay back 10's of millions of dollars that was invested into this event by the parties involved. Sure Chino would have lost on out on his 1.5mil but he would still have options. There was no way Floyd was going to cancel this fight over gloves and be nearly $100mil in the hole after all is said and done. He bluffed and Chino took the money. It is what is it.

MGM grand is not suing floyd mayweather. neither is GBP, and neither is showtime. doy ou have any idea how much money he makes those people?

Agree 100%. The discussion topics on NSB are not always indicative of what the boxing world outside is actually focused on.

Floyd won a close fight, a fight tougher than expected, a fight where the ref allowed tactics that would likely cause point deductions for both; a fight where floyd's opponent dictated the pace and style of the fight. SO I understand the complaining after the fact.
