Adamek should win a heavyweight belt and then go and defend it against Travoris Cloud.

Hence Floyd and Cotto would have to be under 147 for all three titles to be on the line

Right but there has to be a concession on the part of someone, an organization, a fighter, someone has to OK having a 154 pound title at stake at 147. Otherwise, Pac fights some 140 pound guy for the 140 pound guy's belt and the 140 pound belt holder says if I beat you, I get your 147 pound belt. I don't think it works like that, lol.

So giants like Wlad don't beat up little dwarves like Roman Gonzales.

Yea... the WBC rules state this is OK for voluntary defences as long as the other fighter is 'highly rated' in another division. You need 'permission' for this, though I can't imagine someone like Floyd Mayweather having problems with this

But as far as your reply goes, the WBC do have to abide by their rules or they are subject to a court of law, and they don't have any cop outs for the weight limits of the world title fights. But yes, the sport is poorly organised at best

My main question has nothing to do with that though, I only wonder why Floyd wants to defend both of these belts when he doesn't have to, it's more fees for him to pay. He never did so with Maidana
I was just trying to remind you and everyone reading that its just a shady entertainment business with loose rules not written in stone that can be easily loopholed whenever it is practical or makes business sense.

As for why Floyd would want to, maybe he has some plan to fight Cotto now and has a reason to want to keep the 154lb title so he can unify 3 divisions at once is all I can figure......not that it would mean much if the fight has to be at 147 for that to happen.

Yea I wasn't thinking in those terms but u are technically correct.

So it has to be a "voluntary" defense and not a mandatory to even consider this scenario? I can see the lines of clarification on this situation being anything but transparent. Floyd slips them a cool mill and they will make up a special belt they call the "Diamond Duality Belt", lol.

But if that small dude has a shot at the legit HW title, then why not right?
