    After rewatching cotto vs martinez

I don't care what anybody says if martinez was 100% healthy, that first left hook that landed from coto put him on wobbly legs for the rest of the fight, then he landed the same hook again for the second knock down. That hook took his legs away even martinez said he couldn't recover from it.

Exactly. It wasn't his knee that gave out all a sudden that made him fall to the ground 3 times. The dude trained for how long? You think he trained for all that time and all a sudden walks into the ring against Cotto, 1st round, starts falling all over the place? GTFO. It was Cotto's shots that made Martinez weak at the knees. Also, when he SORT of recovered for the rest of the fight, he didn't fall all over the place again but actually was able to stand, imagine that.

dude, martinez looked 900 years old. watch what he looked like in his prime, and then watch the fight that happened on saturday.

was there catastrophic knee failure? no. was he on 39 year old legs that had been looking old for years? yes.

      martinez needs to retire.

        finally someone recognizing the truth.

if people watch the fight they'll see that martinez was moving around fine up until he got hit with that huge left hook.

it's common knowledge that when you get hit with a very hard punch your legs turn to jello.

it was also a short left hook by chavez jr that sent martinez to the canvas.

people need to stop hating cotto and give the man his respect.

well never really know for sure how shot his legs were because he got caught with that hook early, it seemed to me that early on sergio was feeling out cot to and got caught so we never got to see how fresh he was, but the word is that martinez got concussed from the blows and told sampson after the fight that his legs are fine, the only wrong was his concussion he suffered. So you can say the concussion could of caused the reaction for sure for the rest of the fight. Well never definitively know though for sure, but cottos strategy of pushing martinez straight to his right hands was working golden though!

Couldn't agree with u more.. People act like marinez didn't have a full training camp. If his knees was that big it would have shown thruout the whole training.

Look, I don't doubt Martinez looks a former of himself in there but how many people claimed Martinez only had to be 70% to beat Cotto and at 100% Cotto probably wouldn't have made it out of the first round? Now that the tables turned, it's a million reasons Martinez looked like shieet. Fact that you can see with your own eyes is that he was hurt in the very first round and never recovered.
Marquez looks awesome at 39, Bernard Hopkins is still alive and winning at almost 50. 39 is old in boxing, but it's not impossible. Especially when your suppose to have so many advantages that even if you lose one here or there, you should still win.

here you can see the first round and how fluid martinez's movement was up until he got caught with that left hook. at one point martinez even jogs around the ring. how can a guy who has a bad knee/legs jog around the ring and move like he did.

and cotto catches martinez with another strong short left hook which results in the second knockdown.

martinez was more flat footed against chavez jr then he was against cotto.

Those knee sleeves Martinez was wearing must have been decorations, and he must have been joking when he asked to wear a knee brace.

Also, if Cotto can hurt someone for 8 rounds from punches in the 1st round he is a much harder puncher than Shavers. He must punch 2 or 3 times harder than Shavers.
