Wow, wow, wow. Cotto put on a helluva performance. Very happy for him. He really does look rejuvenated working with roach. Sure people can say what they want about Rodriguez and Sergio's knees and what not, but Miguel didn't just squeak by these guys, he did what a special fighter is supposed to do, he dominated them.

Cong**** to Miquel. I think Sergio relies on movement too much to fight with two sergically repaired knees at least it looked that way tonight. I do think this performance makes more people want to see a Cotto vs Floyd rematch. In my opinion it would do well in PPV buys even though I wont pay for it and I think the buyrate is more inportant to Floyd than what the fans want. I will pose this question. If the rematch happens catch weight or otherwise and Floyd beats Cotto again will all of you that think Freddie has made Cotto some new killing machine give Floyd credit or will you continue to discredit what he accomplishes in the ring as usual?

Martinez HAS to retire. There's no way he can beat anyone at 160. He's got no leg strength. Couldnt roll under or bend or change direction quickly.

Cotto fought exactly as he should and did what many of us said hed do if Martinez wasnt fast enough. Cotto was smart, stuck his foot out over Martinez foot and kept him from escaping and putting pressure on the knee (a few of us figured hed do that). He also came out strong as he should have and never let Martinez gain confidence or get past any rust, etc. Methodical as expected from Cotto. Super props to him and amazing class from Sergio who refused to give an excuse even though he's clearly done.

That being said... Cotto needs to go back to 154 or fight a guy coming up and dangle that title as bait. Martinez isnt a big middle thats why there didnt seem to be an obvious size diff but guys like GGG arent small.

I was really impressed despite Sergios state. Cotto has always been ******ly prone to southpaws and he seemed to move in the right directions to neutralize (before hed tend to move as if fighting right handers). Either Roach has helped him be more comfortable with that stance or the fact Sergio couldnt step in with authority with his feet much less take the step to get away made Cotto seem better than we think.

I'm trying not to be excited for Cotto because we wont know how hes going to react to a sturdy strong guy whos young and sharp.

Good job by Cotto. I considered betting on him because of the odds and his sharpness but his history has been so bad vs southpaws that I just want comfortable enough for him to not be hit lol.

Good on Cotto! Seemed in superb shape compared to his early 154 fights and he seemed stronger than in the trout fight.

On a side note I'm super bummed for Sergio but like we all said... It's better to be shot vs Cotto than GGG

Martinez needs to retire or get killed by GGG. Cotto did what he's supposed to do to a fighter who took an arrow to the knee.

Cotto deserves credit, but the reality is that he beat a fighter who was fighting on one foot. Martinez, who I also like tremendously, displayed an incredible amount of heart. It was clear from the first round that he was not anywhere near 100% physically and I thought it would have been appropriate for him to call it a day then.

Cotto, because of his size, is easy prey for any of the young, healthy 160 pound champions, and he certainly doesn't want Golovkin coming down to 160. Cotto's team took a smart, calculated risk in making this fight, but in the final analysis, I don't think Cotto's victory over Martinez means anything at all to Cotto's already impressive legacy given the unfortunate circumstances which were apparent. If Cotto and his team are smart, they'll move back down to 154.

Kudos to Martinez for a great career. From what I understand, he's a successful businessman and hopefully he'll enjoy a healthy, prosperous career outside the ring.

WOW! I can't say I was expecting this! Cotto has looked wonderful in his two fights with Roach in his corner. That said, Martinez just never looked like he had his legs under him. I'm not sure if his knees just aren't there anymore or if Cotto hurt him THAT bad with that left hook.

Great job, Miguel! And I applaud Sergio for not making any excuses. Both men are true champions! I really hope Maravilla retires now, he's done

I'm super happy for Cotto, it was a great performance by him, smart tactics too... he did exactly what you should do against a faded champ with no legs.
