Comments Thread For: Froch Says No Thanks To Andre Ward, Eyes Chavez Jr.

IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch sees no good reason to face Andre Ward, who holds the WBA's super title at 168, in a Las Vegas rematch. After drawing 80,000 fans to Wembley Stadium for his rematch win over George Groves, Froch wants to have a major fight in Las Vegas.

Ward holds a twelve round decision win over Froch from December 2011. But Froch views Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. as by far the more lucrative opportunity. Ward is not even being considered for Froch's next fight. If the Nottingham boxer is unable to get Chavez, then he will face either Mikkel Kessler in a trilogy bout or make a mandatory defense against James DeGale.

Froch knows how to sugar coat the words: "Ward has my number."

Ward has everyone's number. The fact is that he can't draw and Carl is looking for big paydays only.

I don't blame him. Froch vs. JR. on September 16th Weekend. Make it happen.

I like Ward, but I don't blame Froch at all for not fighting a rematch. A fight with Jr will mean more money, more viewers and, most importantly for us fans, more excitement.

I don't see why Froch should give Ward a rematch. Ward beat him already and is chasing him for a fight. It's usually the loser who chases the winner. It's rather obvious that Ward just wants an easy payday. I was one of his biggest fans here, however he needs to get off of that high horse and go fight someone.

you can't be mad at a fighter for trying to get as much money as he or she can before it's over. there is no boxing pension, 401k or any type of retirement benefits.

Obviously Froch wants nothing to do with Ward he got schooled with relative ease which is why he's using the he isn't a draw excuse as a reason not to fight him

Its funny. Cause Ward already beat Froch but guess who needs who? Froch about to get that big paper in Vegas on PPV. Something Ward always wanted. But guess what? Ward about to be sitting at home watching the fight feeling real bitter.
