Damn, I thought Rigo finally found a permenant coach in Diaz. Rigo has been everywhere, working with Roach, Roger Maweather (or Floyd Sr?), Diaz. He's the next Cotto, lol.

I don't think this guy even listens to his trainers. Roach's, for instance, main focus is on offense. Look at that Chinese guy who also came from the amateurs but is making waves in his country. Roach turned him into a relentless, offensive machine and he's been making tons of money out of it. Rigondeux, otoh, would rather stick with his style, then complain why people are booing and exiting the doors when he's fighting.

Originally posted by Tobi.G View PostDiaz is an overrated trainer anyway. He turned Cotto into a headhunter and couldnt motivate Solis to get in shape. He also stayed in the USA when Solis fought Thompson overseas. There are lots of better trainers than Diaz. Im sure Cotto and Rigo did not leave him without a reason.

Pedro Diaz is a much better trainer than Jorge Rubio in my opinion. But given Rigo's ring experience and ring IQ, he has the ability to make adjustments during a fight therefore it's not very important.
It seems Rigo doesn't like to stay too long with the same trainer. He has been trained by Freddie Roach, Ronnie Shields, Ismael Salas, Jorge Rubio, Pedro Diaz and now he's back with Rubio.
