Oscar didn't even mention Mayweather once in his answers. He's still salty from the thrashing he gave him.

I love this series. My favorite was the one of Ali that was reposted on the site this year. Seems like all the fighters pick a surprising name when they talk about a tough fighter. Usually someone we'd forgot they fought. Then i'll go back and watch the fight on youtube. Very good series.

            Bob Foster - August 2016

BEST JAB ?Muhammad Ali ?It wasn’t that powerful but it kept you off balance. It’s hard to get away from a fast, snappy jab. Ali was the only guy I fought who had a good jab.

BEST DEFENSE ?Chris Finnegan ?I didn’t have any problems with them light heavyweights until I fought the guy from England, a southpaw. I jabbed him but had to go over his right hand, I couldn’t get the leverage to knock him out. I was building up points, winning the fight but I wanted the knockout, I didn’t knock him out till the 14th round. He was the toughest guy because he was a southpaw. I think he was the best light heavyweight I fought.

BEST CHIN ?Ali ?I have to go with Ali because I caught him with a good right hand on the chin, I wobbled him, he could have been faking, but I don’t think he was. I know I shook him but he came back out of it quick.

FASTEST HANDS ?Ali ?Again, I’m going to have to go with Ali, he was tremendous for a heavyweight. They were as fast as grease lightening. He’d clown and move, the guy was a tremendous fighter.

FASTEST FEET ?Ali ?He has it all, he was tremendous. You saw him do the Ali shuffle; he could move in his prime. He didn’t start slowing up ‘till he got a little age on him. When I fought him he was in his prime. You look at him he’s right there in front of you, the next thing you know he’s on the right hand side of you, then the left, he just kept moving on you.

SMARTEST ?Ali ?I dominated them light heavyweights, none of them were smarter than me. I’ve got to go Ali ?the guy could fight. He was a good fighter, good boxer, good mover; he wasn’t that much of a puncher.

STRONGEST ?Joe Frazier ?(Laughs) Smokin?Joe Frazier. He was strong, he just kept coming to you. When he got in on you he’d kill that body. I tried to stay away from him, use my reach on him but that didn’t do any good. He kept moving and slipping his head, putting that pressure on.

BEST PUNCHER ?Frazier ?(Laughs) I’d say Joe Frazier. I hit Frazier in the first round with a right hand and buckled his knees and the bell rang, when we went back to the corner his trainer was mad and yelling at him ‘What the heck did I tell you? Didn’t I tell you you couldn’t give this tall skinny guy punching room, he’ll knock your f___ing brains out. Get on top of him.?So I told my trainer ‘This guy’s crazy, he’s trying to box me. I’m going to knock him out this round.?My trainer said, ‘Whatever you do, don’t pull back on this guy.?We went out the second round and everything just changed, he started putting that pressure on me. I never did like pressure. He got me on the ropes, it was a habit of mine, I’d pull in and pull out real fast, I guess he timed it and I got hit by that left hook and I don’t remember nothing else after that! (Laughs). I was in the dressing room putting on my shoes, one of my trainers pulled them off and I’m putting them back on and he said ‘What are you doing??I said ‘I’m getting ready to fight.?He said ‘Bobby, the fight’s over with.?I said, ‘What do you mean??He said ‘He knocked you out.?I said ‘On National TV??He said ‘Yeah.?And I started crying, ‘Oh God, everybody saw me get knocked out.?(Laughs)

BEST SKILLS ?Ali ?He’s fast for a big man, he’s never in one place for long, he’s always moving, he’s not that easy to hit.

BEST OVERALL ?Ali ?Muhammad Ali. He was the man. He was big, fast; he was smart and never did get hit easy.

Luis Ramon Campas - Jan 2016

              BEST JAB
              Jose Luis Lopez
: Because I felt it, he pressured me with the jab, he had a lot of movement. He won, he was a good boxer, aggressive, a counter-puncher, he did a lot of things that I didn’t have the skills to beat. That’s why he won. I still remember feeling his punchers.

              BEST DEFENSE
              Oscar De La Hoya
: He was loose, he had good movement and he could block punches. With Lopez, he didn’t have the defense but you couldn’t hurt him, the shape he was in.

              BEST CHIN
              Raul Marquez
: He could take a lot of punches and it didn’t faze him.

              FASTEST HANDS
              De La Hoya
: He was more rapid than anybody.

              FASTEST FEET
              Daniel Santos
: Because all he did was run [laughs]. He was here, he was there, he was like a rabbit.

              SMARTEST
              Felix Trinidad
: Very intelligent in the ring. He made all the moves. I knocked him down [in the second round], Trinidad thought about it and changed his tactics.

              STRONGEST
              Lopez
: He could take the punches and he kept pressuring. His punches were harder than any other punches I took from anybody else to this day.

              BEST PUNCHER
              Lopez
: He has the experience, he had everything over me at that time. De La Hoya has no punch.

              BEST SKILLS
              Lopez
: He was a complete fighter all around, not only power, he had skills. Trinidad’s father took care of him, De La Hoya because he’s American, he had people watching over him but Lopez was left to the wolves, his diet, drugs all this stuff destroyed this man’s career.

              BEST OVERALL
              Lopez
: Pressure-wise, the best, taking punches, they didn’t faze him, the hardest I’ve ever been hit was by Lopez. How come De La Hoya refused to fight Lopez? Because Lopez was the best.

People underestimate Roy Jones record. Looking at McCallum and Toney's "best", it reminds you just how special Roy was in his prime.

                    Roger Mayweather - Feb 2016

                    BEST JAB
                    Pernell Whitaker
: I would say that Pernell Whitaker had the best jab. He was more schooled than all of them, as far as boxers go.

                    BEST DEFENSE
                    Whitaker
: I would say that Pernell Whitaker for best defense too. He just had more skills than all the others during the time.

                    BEST CHIN
                    Julio Cesar Chavez
: Julio Cesar Chavez had the best chin, in my opinion. I thought I had him gone a couple of times but he didn’t go. He had a chin (Laughs).

                    FASTEST HANDS
                    Whitaker
: There wasn’t anyone as fast as me but I know Pernell Whitaker was fast. On top of that, he was left-handed.

                    FASTEST FEET
                    Whitaker
: Pernell Whitaker was well-schooled, footwork-wise, and in boxing ability too.

                    SMARTEST
                    Whitaker
: I think it was Pernell Whitaker. Whitaker knew things about boxing and had more experience. He had way more boxing experience than me. I didn’t move out here to Vegas because I had 100 [amateur] fights. I probably had about 30 [amateur] fights, at the time. I came out here because I wanted to turn pro and I wanted to become world champion and I did that. Most people come out here because they think they want to do something. I knew what I wanted to do.

                    STRONGEST
                    Juan Soberanes
: Let me see…I know Julio had the best chin but I think that Juan Soberanes was strong too. I remember my loss in Laughlin, Nevada, to him. I felt like I was the better fighter going into the fight but he was tough and came out on top.

                    BEST PUNCHER
                    Soberanes
: There were quite a few of them that could punch. It’s hard to pick one. A few of them had me on the floor. I’m going to say Juan Soberanes for this one.

                    BEST SKILLS
Julio Cesar Chavez and Pernell Whitaker
: A couple had good skills: Julio Cesar Chavez and Pernell Whitaker. These were the best fighters during the time. Neither one of them had lost. They were well-schooled, as far as boxing goes.

Hector Camacho (with whom Mayweather had sparred) was a good fighter too. We boxed a lot but never fought (professionally). He was gifted too.

                    BEST OVERALL
                    Whitake
r: Probably Whitaker was the best. Julio Cesar Chavez was good too but Whitaker beat him, so I think he was the best.

Roger is one of the few fighters who didn't sound bitter. I noticed a lot of guys will give the most credit to guys they beat as to say "This guy was a tough son of a b*tch, but hey, I still beat him". Or they'll give an excuse to why they lost. Roger was straight up and gave credit to the guys who beat him and didn't give excuses
