Originally posted by low blows View PostB Wares loss was a quick hook IMO. He was on his feet and clear eyed(or got clear eyed quickly). He just wasn't punching back on the ropes. I see what you are saying but i was pointing out that Stiverne has been stopped because people like to cling on to the rare moment of adversity Wilder has faced in his 32 fights, like i said a few posts earlier Wilder's record is 'too' perfect to be true in some people's eyes. I don't know how bad he was hurt since there is no vid but it's all good Wilder will win people over after beating Stiverne.

Stiverne is definitely a step up in class for Wilder, but that's not saying much, Stiverne don't seem too good, he was getting busted up by Areola and Areola even smiling at him, while pounding him like a punch bag.
I hope Stiverne wins though, I don't like it when people get the big shot without having had to do much, just like Eubanks Junior vs BJS the other day.
But I suppose Wilder can fight Anthony Joshua in his return bout after losing to Stiverne. But having said that Wilder has a shot at upsetting the odds.

Just rewatched Wilder against an unprepared and unmotivated Jason Gavern. Really not impressed with Wilder. He doesn't do anything particularly well, I think Anthony Joshua has more potential, especially as he is younger.
Wilder has poor footwork, his jab doesn't look like much as it should for his size and reach, his guard is mostly open and he jumps backwards in an unbalanced way when charged. I know he has a good amateur background but he looks shaky as a pro. I don't know, maybe his power is a bit overhyped too, although that Liakhovich KO was scary to watch.
All said, I don't see how he beats quality opposition like Stiverne, but we will see. Stiverne has to prove himself further too. As people say he was against the ropes with Arreola (purposefully though) - he must move better vs Wilder or he might indeed get KTFO. Great fight waiting.
