Rematch Maidana and you have your bout for September. Khan in May and Thurman/Porter winner in September.
Yep that's why I said last night was probably a good thing for floyd

A 37 year old past prime Mayweather with no legs almost lost the fight but gave the critics a fight they wanted.

People wanted him to stand still and fight and well thats what he did. Granted Maidana wasn't lashing the entire time but he was bust enough to make it entertaining and competitive.

LOL at all the people that had been talking **** about the fight being a mismatch. If Floyd was 27 rather than 37 it would have been. It was a good fight and the rematch will be the biggest fight to be made now.

Floyd washes out Maidana in a rematch, then Maidiana becomes the new Castillo with haters always stating he was robbed in the 1st fight and Floyd really lost.

        Easy money for Floyd.

          Agreed.

I would also add use his jab more. Of all the things Maidana did, how easy he hit Floyd with that punch later in the fight surprised me more than anything. It flat stopped Floyd's momentum a few times when he seemed ready to finish Chino off...........If he were to double that same jab early, he would have blinded Floyd and had a better chance at landing the OH Right more often.........and would have needed less energy to accomplish what he did.

IMO, if Floyd had the mentality of Trinidad, Hagler, Hearns, Duran, etc., he knocks Maidana out after he had taken literally 95% of all Maidana had and was spent after 8.......it was a mistake to let this guy off the hook......

But I guess it depends on Mayweather's motives??

To say he wanted a 'too close to call' fight?? Not sure about that. I do believe Floyd has the talent and ability to have made this an easier fight. He didn't or couldn't. Only he really knows. Maybe he should have played less chess and more checkers for this fight?

Maybe he is tired of being crucified for 'easy' fights and paydays?? Maybe age finally showed, he was distracted or over-trained? Doubt it. All of those could have some truth in them. But I think Maidana had more to do with it than any of those things. Saying otherwise lessens what Chino accomplished.

Floyd was unable to control space as well because Maidana was relentess, unpredictable and awkward and just didn't stop, didn't get discouraged and certainly didn't show respect like most opponents, making it harder for Floyd to adjust. All things most 'experts' believe are needed to beat Floyd. Chino did it. Including what Leonard said: "Forget the chin, aim for the head"...

Robert Garcia should get hella props for this too. He clearly listened and had the perfect fighter for the right gameplan.....Mayweather Sr.? Not so much.....Not to confuse 'Garcia's' but the one in Floyd's corner was more critical than Floyd Sr whose advice seemed to even irritate Jr at times...

It wasn't any single thing. It was ALL OF THOSE THINGS. It's the first time anyone was willing to do them all properly. That caught Floyd off-guard. But around rd 6, Floyd seemed to give up on Chino going away, dug in and fought his way into control. His early body work, check-hooks, accuracy and plain hand-speed were effective during the onslaught and eventually he used it to take the fight back.

Styles do make fights.....but IF they fight again...I think Floyd will win much more clearly...don't think he'll make the mistake of languishing on the ropes hoping Maidana gets tired again....

So many ifs, ands, and buts........shouldn't that be a GOOD THING FOR A MAYWEATHER FIGHT?? A guy who has barely lost one round a fight for years?? Many people thought this would look like the Gatti or Hatton fights. To be honest so did I.........it didn't though I believe he could have finished it that way.

I do believe there is something to when Floyd says Cotto and Canelo hit harder, I believe him. I think Mosley did too, three times to be exact. I think Maidana made him uncomfortable, Floyd took punishment he normally doesn't, even refuses to take. I think it's because Maidana didn't hurt him all that much with any one shot (MX gloves?)....Doesn't really matter.

What does is that Maidana kept coming, kept throwing and even if the punches weren't landing clean, he was landing somewhere (Marciano would have been proud!). Something better fighters haven't done vs Floyd. And to his credit, Floyd took them very well and fired back with insane accuracy.

Sorry to drag on but I just keep seeing post after post of nonsense and they collectively require a reply:

Dirty and sloppy as some have said? Yes but that doesn't mean it wasn't entertaining, certainly wasn't boring and was the closest type of 8-4 fight you will ever see....and the toughest fight Floyd has ever been in.

Whoever said Maidana was dirty and ugly and because of that doesn't deserve a rematch? You really must have hated guys like Duran, Chavez and virtually what most call the greatest fights ever........?? ('Thrilla in Manilla' anyone?)

If you thought that was dirty and ugly and thought it was a bad thing, the 15 rd pressure fighters of the 80's would make Maidana look like a saint! Perhaps just more subtle than you realize?

Don't think Mancini has any chance in hell.......don't know where that came from.........anyway......

Maidana fought like a well-schooled vet......with what are often called 'veteran moves'......LOL. Hopkins, Duran, Chavez, Castillo, etc. were very proud of that performance from Chino.

Floyd does it too. Can you say Forearm anyone?? Some might suggest, and they'd be right, Mayweather is the Michael Jordan/Bryant/James of boxing and the refs give him his way too easily........it happened early here and early vs other fighters what could have made much better fights. But unlike past opponents and to his credit, Maidana didn't concede or let Weeks deter him.

Like I said............major props to both guys......rough, dirty, gritty, some of the best fights ever were all of those...........Maidana gave it about as gutsy as it gets, Mayweather took it and responded very well.

Anyone who is misguided or biased and refuses to give either guy props?? I'd have to say they were blind or just don't know the history they quote.....
