    Anyone smell another retirement coming?

Sure, he'd probably beat Chino again (superior skill and conditioning will win out in the end again) but with all this "health comes first/I gotta think about my life after boxing/I don't want to be a vegetable" talk, does he really wanna go through another fight with a disrespectful savage like Chino clubbing him mercilessly?

Then you've got hungry, aggressive fighters like Thurman and Porter dying for that fight, given confidence (and maybe a blueprint) how to fight this declining version of Floyd.....for someone who gets freaked out by the idea of punishment, does he wanna go through these guys?

I don't think he will retire but it wouldn't surprise me. The dude's heart isn't in boxing anymore, it's strictly paycheck stuff now and getting to the end of that Showtime contract, after 20 years of being in the sport, might just feel like a slog that he doesn't need.

Whatever he does, he'll be back at some point. He spends money like water, he's destined to go out like James Toney and Roy Jones and it's nothing less than he deserves.

Just call it a career already unless he fights Pacquiao I honestly couldn't care less.

        He should retire. For good.

He's clearly a shell of his former self.

Still an excellent fighter, though. Still the best at 147, and would beat pretty much everyone at 154.

I would be very disappointed if he retired now (and not only cos I hate him). Let's see these great fundamental we were told he would fall back on when his athleticism left him, unlike Roy Jones.

Pac has declined too, but there's something interesting in seeing how he adapts. Same with Floyd. These guys are ATGs and it's not like they are shot - they are just declining and can still hang with the best. So why leave now?

Mayweather athletism has been leaving him for the past 4 years. He's not just started to decline. He's had to adapt and adjust his style multiple times throughout his 18 year career.

At 37 years of age and 18 years as a pro he's at a point in his career where he's so far into decline it's time to hang them up. Will he? No. But he should.

I think his reflexes are still exceptionally fast. His feet aren't, but his handspeed and waist/upper body movement are still excellent.

This Maidana fight had the same vibe as Roy-tarver 1.. Floyd did a lot better down the stretch than Roy did, but the similarities, especially the going back to the ropes too often.. That's usually a sign that a fighter has aged and legs can't move for 12 rounds. Toney as well started doing it around 2005.

His reflexes aren't exceptionally fast. Maidana was hitting him with a jab at range.

His reflexes are sharp in spots. They are also quite alarmingly slow in spots.

His accuracy is drastically lower, his speed gets slower every single fight.

He's declining rapidly in every single area other than chin.
