Sure, he'd probably beat Chino again (superior skill and conditioning will win out in the end again) but with all this "health comes first/I gotta think about my life after boxing/I don't want to be a vegetable" talk, does he really wanna go through another fight with a disrespectful savage like Chino clubbing him mercilessly?
Then you've got hungry, aggressive fighters like Thurman and Porter dying for that fight, given confidence (and maybe a blueprint) how to fight this declining version of Floyd.....for someone who gets freaked out by the idea of punishment, does he wanna go through these guys?
I don't think he will retire but it wouldn't surprise me. The dude's heart isn't in boxing anymore, it's strictly paycheck stuff now and getting to the end of that Showtime contract, after 20 years of being in the sport, might just feel like a slog that he doesn't need.
