So when Gamboa gets trapped with extensions and clauses and leaves to not fight rios he's not ducking but if Mikey does it he's ducking? You numb idiot. Like I said in another post HBO put the money down and it was up to the teams to negotiate. Uncle Bob prolly had something to do with this, but why in any universe would Gamboa make more than mikey? Are you kidding me? Not only that but If Mikey is coming out and stating these facts about the court case then wtf would he lie? This will be in court and anything he says can and will be held against him, especially when referring to a court case. So we will all see when it is actually settled in court that Gambis was Indeed pricing himself out and 50 wanted him to get more money. That's what Mikey was saying in the very beginning that Gamboa wanted 50% even before the fight fell apart. So no, he's not lying and shouldn't be treated that way.. on to golden boy

However, according to Mickey himself, Top Rank refused to get him that better deal unless he resigned with them long term.

So that really has nothing to do with Gamboa and his team.

Im not arguing that the fight shouldnt be 50/50. Im just saying Mickey shouldnt have called out Gamboa like that.
Likely that little extra would have had to come from Arum's own pocket (hence an extension would be needed for it to be worth it) because HBO wouldn't budge for the extra cash and 50 cent wouldn't budge for less for Gamboa. (Gamboa owes 50 cent a million dollars for the contract buyout.)

Top Rank continues to lose fighters... Where do they go? Not to GBP, but to Al Haymon... With the potential de la Hoya vs. Schaefer split, it seems that Al Haymon and Schaefer would team up with Showtime eventually. While de la Hoya gets closer to Arum (towards HBO?)...
The ongoing HBO vs. Showtime battle royale will change the big promoters game.

GAMBOA SIMPLY ACCEPTED WHAT HE WAS OFFERED.

That isn't exactly pricing yourself out is it? Now if Gamboa was offered 500k and then asked for more, THATS pricing himself out.

Then one who priced himself out was Garcia. And lets be honest here, he wasn't getting paid chump change either. Was he?

He wanted Gamboa's side to come down to 50-50, but they refused and were set to receive 50% more.

Mikey wanted a fair share, which in reality would be a bigger split than Gamboa, but instead he was offer 50% less and only wanted 50-50.

Who cares if mikey would get 1 mil, why should he get a much smaller piece of the pie?

"...Garcia reportedly was asking for north of $1.5 million for facing Gamboa, who, in turn, had agreed to a much lesser number for this match-up. HBO, which has televised seven of Garcia’s bouts since 2011, seems to be taking this stance with Garcia: make the fight we want or sit..."

When you accept what you're initially offered, and negotiations continue and you're asked to lower your asking price and refuse to do so, you're effectively doing the same thing. Just because the initial offer was accepted, doesn't mean the deal was complete. Circumstances changed and Gamboa didn't budge, which is his right. I wouldn't either. But when you're told that if you don't lower your price then the fight will be called off, then you play as big a role (if not the biggest), as anyone else.

Gamboa is not a victim. Neither is Mikey.

Mikey is the one rising and Gamboa is the name fading. 50-50 sounds about right.

LOL Bob Arum has destroyed the reputation of Top Rank. Between his underhanded tactics to rob fighters money to putting up the worst undercards in the history of boxing ppv, it's over after Pacquiao.

Bob Arum holds on to fighters until they want to leave..then gives them their big fight. JCC jr. should just wait it out. GBP or any other promoter can get him the Triple G fight...I would not sign an extension with Top Rank under any circumstances.

Once Floyd is out of the picture, Haymon and Schaefer will rip each other apart.
