Why do TR fighters always seem to have to sign an extension at the time of their biggest fights? Wasn't Manny gonna leave TR until Bradley got that controversial decision? Didn't Bradley re-sign just before the Manny rematch? I hope you guys see the pattern. Arum is playing these fools! Best of luck to Mikey and Chavez Jr. I hope they both sign with Al Haymon.

Just some things I noticed while reading comments. A lot of you guys don't really understand how fight contracts work. First these two fighters are Promoted by two separate en******, 1 top rank and the other with 50 cent. So if 50 cent offers Gamboa 1.5 mill, it really has no bearing on what Top Rank will offer there fighter. Each fighters Promotional contract usually does not determine how much said fighter will make for taking a fight. The promotional company will make a determination based on estimations of total revenue obtained as a result of the fight, calculations and such and the fighter is offered a fight contract, in this case 1 mill (there may also be other incentives, Like a percentage if the fight gets high ratings.). Based on the article it sounds like money from HBO is already part of the 1 mill.
Now who's fault is it really? We can assume that Top Rank will get a bigger slice of total revenue for this bout because Garcia is considered A to Gamboa. So it would also stand to reason that HBO would also pay Top Rank more for the services of Garcia. Now the next question should be if Top Rank is ultimately getting paid more then 50 cent, where does 50 cent find the 1.5 mill? Answer is very easy, 50 is giving Gamboa more money out of the total revenue that his promotional company will make, while Top Rank is going to pocket more. Garcia is right to question Arum. Garcia was told that Top Rank would pay him more for the fight if he renegotiated his promotional contract with them. Why at that point would they have more money? LMAO shady business ethics here. Garcia should separate from Top Rank because so far everyone who has left Arum made more money then they ever did with Top Rank.

The ongoing HBO vs. Showtime battle royale will change the big promoters game.
"That's OK, they can play those games. But what I'm doing, I'm running Golden Boy, and I think I'm doing a pretty good job, having built it into the leading boxing promotion company in the world. Last year was an all-time record year, and it did not involve Bob Arum or HBO. I'm proud of what I'm doing and I want to continue doing it."
...
"Last I checked, I was CEO," Schaefer said. "Unless Oscar wants to change that. I've been running Golden Boy since the beginning. If he wants to change that, since he's the majority shareholder, and decides he wants to fire me, I can't stop that."
...
As for De La Hoya's push, Schaefer said, "I'm the CEO. What's higher, the CEO or the president? He's the president. It says in my contract I'm the CEO and I run the business.
