Pac did that to hatten AFTER Mayweather cracked his jaw open, and like we've seen in the past, once a fighter gets his clock cleaned that bad, his chin never recovers fully. Roy Jones would not have lost the K.O. losses he did late in his career if he didn't get KTFO by tarver so brutally. Manny unfortunatley will not be the same either, feather fisted Bradley may even be able to seriously hurt Manny now that he's been seriously chin checked. So that arguement is amatuer.
Secondly, DeLaHoya vs Mayweather was NOT close. Notice in the Canelo fight (Golden Boys new Golden Boy) that he got a "split" decesion too... Not co-incidence. DeLaHoya was a boss than and still is now and he bought that "split" decision. Nobody seriously thinks that fight was controversial.
My final rebuttal is: Who cares what Cotto did to Mayweathers nose in comparison to what Pac did to Cotto. Look at what Mayweather did to Marquez and look what Marquez did to Pacquiao. That point alone deflates your theory. If past fights dictate how 2 fighters will do when against each other than Pacquiao does not stand a chance against Mayweather, which is not the case. Pac has a very good chance at beating Floyd. As a Pac fan tho i just don't see it as likely at THIS stage in his career, but pre Marquez K.O. Pac still had an excellent chance, now his chin will not allow him to be in a deep water blood and guts war if he needed to. His offense is still a force, but with a low punch resistance, a few solid shots will keep him modest and negate his offensive output. It's sad but true.
The only thing I disagree with is, if a fighter is badly KO'd, it doesn't necessarily mean their punch resistence has gone. It can be the case, like you said with Roy (although he'd rarely been hit that cleanly when he still had his reflexes, his chin might've always been glass but no one had exposed it yet) and Hatton. However, there have been examples where this isn't the case, even Khan after that Prescott KO was taking punches off Maidana a couple of fights later and didn't hit the deck.
Lewis had been KO'd badly twice in his career and Vitali couldn't put him away. Even Pac had been KO'd badly early in his career and went on to have wars with Barerra, Morales and Marquez. There are examples on both sides of this...

I was asked what chance PAC has and I said he has a puncher's chance. If he hurts FMJ something can happen but I also said he's never going to be able to hit him to hurt him, so it's not going to happen. PAC only chance is if Floyd gets old and slips up but Floyd can still get away from him --Sugar Shane Mosley

I've been a fan of both fighters for many years. I loved Floyd's genius and style which allowed him to dominate in the jr. lightweight and lightweight divisions. Manny's pure action, pure heart, attitude in his fights made me a fan since Ledwahba. Unfortunately, my admiration for both fighters have since waned due to their constant bickering and cherrypicking.
Manny may work at the cherry orchards, but Floyd owns the land.
I still think that 50 years from now when their legacies are being re-written, I can't help but think that people will always remember how Floyd never fought Manny and not the other way around. Especially, since Floyd played the bad guy so much to promote his fights. I'm afraid, he will always be perceived as the bad guy during the Pacquiao negotiations.
I really hope Floyd changes his mind and fights Manny one day because this will definitely affect his legacy. Manny, a little, but not as much as it will hurt Floyd's.
One other thing to consider is that people's expectations from both fighters are about as polar opposites as it can be.
Manny never proclaimed that he was the greatest so when he loses, which he has done a few times, it doesn't count against all of his achievements. In people's eyes, he has achieved more than anyone expected of him. He is looked upon as the classic overachiever.
Floyd, meanwhile, the self proclaimed greatest ever, was always expected to fight and beat anyone and everyone, including Manny Pacquiao. But he doesn't want any part of Manny, and therefore, for some, has underachieved.
The sad part about all this is that most knowledgeable boxing fans or boxing fans, in general, do believe that Floyd beats Manny in any weight class. Unfortunately, it is Floyd who needs the most convincing.
Manny maybe scared of needles, but Floyd seems scared of Pacquiao.
"I am a rich coward!", Floyd once said when asked if he is ever going to fight Manny Pacquiao. It is neither debatable nor arguable how Floyd feels about Manny. He admitted it on tape. This, in the end, will forever hurt his legacy.
