    Kovalev's performance.

How would you rate his performance last night? Sure, he was countered, and the fight lasted longer than we thought it would, but really, he dominated the fight. We now know how he does when he's cut, and that he has the stamina to go the later rounds.

He never appeared tired in that fight to me.

The guy threw 109 punches and fought with a very good tight guard the whole ****ing fight. Ya, Kovalev caught countered a few times, but everyone gets hit. Even the best defenders of all time. A guy like Kovalev who is aggressive is going to get hit. To me that has no bearing on any future fight. We already know he is willing to open up and get hit.

I think he went to the body more then people were giving him credit for during the fight. I mean he ended it on a body punch. Breaking his rib with a jab. How he did that I will never know. He probably could have went to the body more though.

I thought he showed good patience. Always kept his distance and stayed aware on defense. He showed a measured and tactical approach against a guy who didn't want to get hit.

I give him an A- for the fight.

He needs to work on his counter-punching. Anytime Agnew would throw combinations, all he would do was cover up. He's either all offense or all defense; he doesn't transition well between the two. He also needs to remember to mix up his attack between head and body. He started off mostly head hunting, attempting to just break Agnew's guard instead of going under it. Yeah, he snuck some shots around Agnew's guard but Agnew's body was wide open pretty much the whole fight. On a scale of 1-10, I'd probably say about a 7.5 or 8.

My only complaint is that he didn't go to the body by the second round, when it was clear Agnew was going to cover up and do nothing. He should have sent those left hands downstairs constantly. You saw what happened when he did.

Otherwise, he scored 2 KD and never came close to losing a round. I don't even think Agnew's counters were a big deal because he only landed 3 or 4 a round. I mean, when you throw 10 punches in a round, the guy stalking you isn't going to care about taking 3 of them when he's landing 20.

I thought he looked awesome. so what that his opponent lasted 7 rounds. his opponent was 26-0 and previously never dropped and was dropped 3 times. 2 legitimately. didnt win a round either. i mean he missed quite a few punches, got hit with some, and looked sloppy at times. he just wanted to get the job done though, and i respect that.

Because of Agnew's high guard, the body was open all night and he just didn't go there enough, or early enough.

If Kovalev can drop guys with a jab, then I don't see anyone in the division being able to stand up to his power.
