As for floyd himself, he is an excellent fighter, he just avoids threats and always has a ton of excuses....ALWAYS! This affects his legacy to real boxing fans, people that were into the sport before he showed up and will afterwards. The casuals and 99% of the racist floydspastics on this forum will melt away when he's gone or just transfer their devotion from 50% ******ation, 50% racism into 100% race baiting. We are seeing the evidence of this in the way these ******s are reacting to GGG and Kovalevs success.
I was a fan of his in the earlier phase of his career, but his obsession with money is grotesque and has led to him always taking the path of least resistance. His talent and ability could put him amongst the very best fighters ever, yet he simply doesnt have the body of work to rubber stamp it. He has avoided his biggest threat and rival like the plague and is unique in that regard amongst great fighters of the past. The true greats got the hell on with it and sought out and fought their biggest rival.
It sucks, but its just the way HE has made it. He will be set for life, rich beyond his wildest dreams, but a truly great fighter? Too many question marks.

Here we have an obvious distinction where one so-called boxing fan displays a total lack of awareness of one the most celebrated boxers in the sport. A boxer that is not only highly acclaimed and praised by boxing writer's, world-class trainers, but also by world-class boxers themselves.
If anything is represented by this post and thread, it is the complete and total ignorance of many so-called boxing fans today.
Let's tally the sides, shall we?
World-Class Boxing Trainers\Boxer's\Writer's opinion vs Ignorant, ******, biased So-called fans opinion.
The fastest KO in history and No contest!!!!!

That damn Floyd Mayweather. He's everything that's wrong with boxing. We need more fighters like Brandon Rios and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Pac is a great fighter as well who I feel deserves more criticism than Floyd in regards to the sport that they actually participate in and not for the opinions that people have for him. However the persona that Pac has is that he is this nice guy that you want to root for.

what mayweather does outside the ring is ****** and ignorant. the way he picks his fights based on his creed "health comes first". but in the ring, mayweather is as sharp as a surgeon's scalpel, his paranoia drives him not to make a mistake. he is good but his greatness will always be questioned

Honestly, i dont see how casual fans can be a fan of floyd...
Casuals are usaully drawn towards action fighters like tyson, evander, oscar....
Floyd is more a hardcore fans cup of tea with his technical ability

Don't get me wrong, I think he is the most skilled fighter we have seen in the last 15 years but he is having a negative impact on boxing as a sport. He has helped turn it into sports entertainment, it is not about being the best anymore, it is all about following the Mayweather blueprint of building yourself up, avoiding the best fighters and cherry picking to make yourself look as good as possible to become the next face of boxing which is pretty similar to a WWE storyline. It is because of fighters like him that the true boxers out there are not getting a shot and as a fan it is very frustrating. I honestly cannot wait until he retires.
