On Thursday (March 27, 2014), promoter Yvon Michel and Stevenson seem to have talked a lot on the possibility of facing Hopkins and Kovalev in the fall, or later, or who knows when – if ever. But this does not rule out (but on the contrary) that it could also be a fight between Pascal and Stevenson.
Michel said that Stevenson’s “goal is to unify the titles and after that defend titles unified. Do it with Pascal, it would be ‘wow’. It's almost a dream fight.”

In Yvon Michel’s perspective, Stevenson „unifying the title” would mean to lure Hopkins for a fight at the Bell Centre in Montreal – Hopkins fought there already in 2011 when he took the WBC belt from Jean Pascal. As for Pascal, earlier this week he visited Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) premises and undertook rather cordial discussions for a new management agreement…
It’s also worth mentioning that, on Thursday, Stevenson also acted as some sort of an adviser for Lucian Bute -- as he opined that Bute should further stick with Larouche, but he should hire a new consultant-coach. Stevenson mentioned Freddie Roach and even generously offered to “lend” Bute his current coach, Sugar Hill (Steward's nephew)!?!
What do we see emerging here? A kind of a Canadian LHW cartel, with the Bell Centre (Montreal) as HQ…
… Therefore, the light heavyweight division might turn into a “Canadian Affair” in the very near future – by adding into the mix Bernard Hopkins who is no stranger at that venue, Chad Dawson (he also fought there twice) who himself recently signed for Al Haymon, and (why not?) Tavoris Cloud, as well …
