Using Stevenson to turn LHW into a „Canadian Affair”, again?...

On Thursday (March 27, 2014), promoter Yvon Michel and Stevenson seem to have talked a lot on the possibility of facing Hopkins and Kovalev in the fall, or later, or who knows when – if ever. But this does not rule out (but on the contrary) that it could also be a fight between Pascal and Stevenson.
Michel said that Stevenson’s “goal is to unify the titles and after that defend titles unified. Do it with Pascal, it would be ‘wow’. It's almost a dream fight.”
... In Yvon Michel’s perspective, Stevenson „unifying the title” would mean to lure Hopkins for a fight at the Bell Centre in Montreal – Hopkins fought there already in 2011 when he took the WBC belt from Jean Pascal. As for Pascal, earlier this week he visited Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) premises and undertook rather cordial discussions for a new management agreement…
It’s also worth mentioning that, on Thursday, Stevenson also acted as some sort of an adviser for Lucian Bute -- as he opined that Bute should further stick with Larouche, but he should hire a new consultant-coach. Stevenson mentioned Freddie Roach and even generously offered to “lend” Bute his current coach, Sugar Hill (Steward's nephew)!?!

What do we see emerging here? A kind of a Canadian LHW cartel, with the Bell Centre (Montreal) as HQ…
… Therefore, the light heavyweight division might turn into a “Canadian Affair” in the very near future – by adding into the mix Bernard Hopkins who is no stranger at that venue, Chad Dawson (he also fought there twice) who himself recently signed for Al Haymon, and (why not?) Tavoris Cloud, as well …

Didn't they say they didn't want to fight each other because they were friends?

    Pretty sure they did.

Definitely. With or without Pascal, Haymon will keep him in Canada where they love him.

Yvon Michel just said that Stevenson’s “goal is to unify the titles and after that defend titles unified. Do it with Pascal, it would be ‘wow’. It's almost a dream fight.”

They plan to make it a "Canadian home affair"...
        This I understand...

I became attentive when Adonis offered "help" for Bute out of the blue, apparently...

Pascal vs Stevenson would be huge in Canada. The reality is that Adonis doesn't need Kovalev in order to make big money.

But yeah, I'm not a fan of a good division being held hostage by a nation of accordion-toting mime artists
