This would be an impressive comeback win for Donaire. I dont like his excuses for the Rigo fight. Just take the loss and move on. Still a great talent with one punch KO power.
he better be
wanna say he's excused for looking ish vs Vic
but that was supposed to be his easy bounce back fight
Nonito can't afford to look bad or blow this next fight
he'll win this, but with a KO or not, he needs to impress
his stock dropped vs Vic, another belt helps but isn't enough
wanna see Nonito back in peak form, not eking out ho hum wins
Donaire isn't shot, he has simply peaked.
He no longer has the massive size advantage and strength at the weight.
Flyweights, and bantaweights rarely can carry their power and speed all the way up the the featherweight division, especially when they're past 30 yrs old. Usually they hit a ceiling as we see here with Donaire. Only exception I could think of is Manny Pacquiao.
At 122 he knocked down all five of his opponents and stopped two of them. In his FW debut he won by one punch KO. I would say his power carried up pretty well.

He struggled in his FW debut against a shot fighter who is not a natural FW.
He did have power and size advantage at 122, but that is where it ended. Against natural FW fighters, or jr. lightweights who squeeze themselves down to FW he won't be able to run through.
Not to mention he's now 30, and by this age most guys who fought their careers at flyweight and bantamweight usually peak.
Only one who didn't was Pacquiao.

He wasn't a huge rehydrate guy at 122. He weighed 129 pounds on fight night againt Arce. He was probably heavier in the Rigo fight, but that's because he messed up his weight control.
As for his FW debut, yeah, Darch was not a natural featherweight, but he wasn't shot, and Donaire's struggles didn't have anything to do with a lack of power. He probably took Darch lightly, while Darch was extremely motivated and came in with a good gameplan.
I'm not saying Donaire will definitely be a force at 126, but it's way too early to say his power didn't carry up. Let him have a couple of fights against real FWs and then we can talk.
That's what happens when you fight old, undersized, unknown, and shot fighters. Rest assured you will run into a brick wall. Happened to JCCJ, Broner, and Donaire. I will not say Canelo since he beat Trout pretty clearly and he didn't do horrible vs Mayweather. Mayweather is just on another level. The knock against Canelo was he didn't fight much comp. Well he proved he could beat top talent with a victory over Trout, who clearly beat Cotto, who gave Mayweather one of his toughest fights(Yeah Im sure Mayweather wasn't at his best that night but still). We all want him to face Lara and I think that Canelo would cause huge problems for him. He punches much harder than Angulo and throws in bunches. But Lara isn't a draw. Then again I don't think the casual fan knows who the hell Angulo is either.
Anyway all I seen Donaire fight were older guys, over the hill fighters, undersized guys, guys I never heard of. I rarely seen him in any good fights. All his comp were afraid to engage with him understandably so. But Rigo dominated him and it showed he was never in the ring with anyone who would challenge him like that. He didn't face a lot of difficult styles. Now he's a confused fighter. After losing to Rigo, he goes and gets exposed by Darchinian. Luckily he has one punch power so it only takes one mistake. But you cant expect to always land that ****. Same thing happened with JCCJ vs Martinez. It also depends on when you land it. The odds are not in your favor after getting outboxed multiple rounds to land some glory shot and win the fight(Oh **** did I describe the Kahn vs Garcia fight?). Even a knockdown unless devastating doesn't help you if you're way behind on the cards.
So this guy doesn't have any clue how he wants to fight anymore. He can still give entertaining fight just from his power alone. But once he fights a real fighter and runs into trouble like he did with Vic, he will start questioning himself. I seen it in his eyes he lost his confidence. But hey he can still be a dangerous fighter. I just don't expect him to be the dazzling fighter that HBO, Roy Jones, etc pumped him up to be anymore. When he fights top comp he's going to get exposed.
