If Danny could have controlled the clinch better and not let Herrera jab and hold, he'd have more chances to open up with combinations and what not.

Herrera fought a hell of a fight, but I felt like too much credit was being given for Herrera not really doing much but jabbing and holding. Danny had his moments in damn near every round aside from 1-2 of them, and landed the harder clearer shots in a lot of the rounds.

But it's natural to score and root harder for the underdog. There was no robbery in this fight. Wasn't anywhere near the level of Lara-Williams, Pac-Bradley, Campillo-Cloud.
Herrera got a gift against Ruslan. You've gone into full damage control mode.

Hopkins landed a handful of clean shots. Nothing close to the same thing.

People need to GTFO with that Herrera was clinching excessively and spoiling bull****. Here's the compuclinch stats.

          1) 4
          2) 4
          3) 8
          4) 3
          5) 3
          6) 6
          7)7
          8)3
          9)4
          10)4
          11)1
12)7 (every clinch was by Garcia in this round)

I wouldn't call an average of 4.5 clinches per round excessive. And Garcia initiated at least half of them.

I don't even like Danny, really either guy. So what damage am I controlling???

I do feel like people are giving Herrera too much credit jabs and punches in the clinch.

I felt like it was closer then most on here are making it out to be. So sue me...

Not to say jabs don't count, they do. But when basically 3/4 of the punches you land clean are jabs, it's noticeable when the other guy lands his power shots.

It was a close fight. Even if you scored it for Herrera, it shouldn't be wide. Even Al after the fight said the "sho stats" were indicative of how close the fight was.
Such a close fight that the Showtime crew all scored it for Herrera. It wasn't a complete shutout, but Jesus, Danny blew it big time. He lost, but it happens to the best. However, it was undoubtedly a robbery. Two judges, both 116-112 in favor of Danny Garcia. I mean, with open-scoring, it's kind of hard to cover that **** up. The scorecards were essentially filled out before fight started.

Official scoring after 4 rounds: 38-38, 40-36 (Garcia), 39-37 (Garcia)
Official scoring after 8 rounds: 78-74 (Garcia), 77-75 (Garcia), 77-75 (Herrera)
              Official score: 114-114, 116-112 (Garcia), 116-112 (Garcia)

Those scores are absolute garbage. Herrera could've done everything right, and STILL LOST the fight.

A robbery to me is Abril and Rios, or Lara-Williams, where I can't fathom even giving the guy more then 1-2 rounds. Danny won at least 4-5 rounds IMO. He won rounds 1, 10, 11, and with so many close rounds in the middle of the fight, it wouldn't be hard to see him sc**** out a draw.

But I 100% agree the official judges cards were wayyyyy too wide. I couldn't possibly give more then 6 rounds to Danny.

I prefer Garcia's 150 vs 80 power punches, rather than Herrera's jab advantage.

With that said, Herrera came to fight(and hold a lot), but I thought Garcia won 7-5.

Even Herrera thought the fight was close, given his post fight interview, though he felt he won. I could see a draw or a close Herrera win. ESPN had it 114-114, which is what I had.

Whatever. It's not a big deal.

Garcia should move up to 147 though. He should fight someone like Guerrero.

Garcia got his ass beat bad by those jabs. Haven't seen a complete ownage like that in a while. Total schooling.

How the hell can yall count power punches that arent landing as a scoring blow? Look at Herrera's face after Ruslan and Mile High Mike. There's a huge difference.
