At 25 years of age, I would have beaten Mayweather with ease. ~Oscar De La Hoya

I agree. He didn't even stick to his gameplan all the way through the fight and when he did he was easily winning. Pretty sad considering Oscar was over the hill and he still made Fraud dig deep to win the fight. Yeah Oscar was over the hill against Pac, and that's why Pac made sure he retired him.

I do think a younger Oscar would have beaten Mayweather, even at 34 or so, he was giving the defensive wizard a tough time.
Mayweather has built a great reputation, especially in recent years, by fighting guys who are slow and flat footed and with little experience at the top. When ever Mayweather has fought men who are truly elite, such as Cotto, Castillo, Ricky and of course Oscar, he has struggled and been in tough fights. I believe a few of those fights should warrant trilogies: imagine if Cotto was a few years younger and at welterweight, he may well have had the jab and activity to make it even closer.
Sometimes in boxing, it's not about who you fight but rather when you fight them.

A 25 y/o Oscar was a one handed fight with the head-movement of Stephen Hawking.
Oscar lost all his big fights, and Mayweather would be no exception.
You can't beat Mayweather with no defense and a left hook.

This thread just goes to show how gullible people are and how influenced they are by the fight commentary. The performance of Lampley, Steward and Merchant in this fight was nothing short of disgraceful.
They produced a narrative for this fight that wasn't reality.
To the muppets saying Oscar abandoned the jab (repeating what the commentary crew said) he actually threw more jabs in the second half of the fight.
Thank god for Kellerman who basically slapped down the commentators version of events in his post fight analysis, which was spot on. He said Mayweather easily 9-3, at worst 8-4. Any other score just reveals who is ******ed and incapable of scoring a pro bout.
