It is quite simple, non-commercial style and his defensive minded ways make for a difficult fight. Not a recognizable name in the public eye so it's a lose-lose situation for any top fighter.

Top fighters do not want to face runners without name.

        High risk/Low reward.

Lara is a talented defensive fighter who will be difficult to beat. He's also a fluid moving boxer and he has no problem outpointing an opponent who doesn't have the ability to cut the ring off/get to him. Lara isn't well known (outside of hardcore fans) so guys don't want to take the chance of losing to him.

With all that being said, he has been getting pretty much every fight he wants aside from the Canelo fight. He has fought more top 154 contenders than anyone else currently at 154.

I love how you try to make your post sound all educated then proceed to call a boxer a 'runner'.

          What a farce you are.

He's probably the best at 154.

I would favor him to beat Floyd to be honest.

Sounds like a bunch of excuses.

                It's a marketing gimmick. Period.

Truthfully he's not getting the fights he wants because he has no crossover appeal and no fan following of note. But when you're in that position as a boxer you've got to do something to distinguish yourself somehow and, in recent years, branding yourself the "most feared" or "most avoided" fighter in your division (or the sport in general) has been a pretty good marketing ploy.

Look no further than guys like Paul Williams and Antonio Margarito - Decent fighters, without a doubt. But they pretty much built their entire careers on mystique instead of opposition, and it honestly worked well for them.

GBP is using the same type of marketing scheme for Lara as HBO is using for GGG. First they hd Lara call him out, then when GGG said no, they started running with it.
