Comments Thread For: Schaefer: Angulo's Style Earned Him Canelo Fight

Alfredo Angulo lost his last fight to Erislandy Lara by technical knockout and has been stopped in two of his past four fights.

That doesn’t make him any less deserving, according to Richard Schaefer, of his March 8 pay-per-view fight against Saul “Canelo?Alvarez. Schaefer, Golden Boy Promotions?chief executive officer, considers Angulo’s history of participating in exciting fights more important than the rugged Mexican’s win-loss record (22-3, 18 KOs).

I like this from Schaefer. You should be rewarded in boxing not just for winning but for being entertaining. Its much easier to fix fights when the guys don't have to be entertaining and the fans accept it as "skill", so we have to demand entertaining fighters.

This is an acceptable fight coming off a loss. If Canelo wins, it needs to be either Lara or the Martinez-Cotto winner.

This fight doesn't belong on ppv though!

I would have liked anotber opponent but if its ppv then u got to go with guys who make it worth to pay the money.i dont want to pay $60 to watch someone hug their way to victory,,,canelo is coming off a loss, dont see the big deal of him facing angulo after just having fought the best fighter and before that a pretty good one in trout, the problem is that its ppv, they could have gone with kirkland but then again asking him to face three good fighters in a row would be unfair, this one is ok then he should face cotto/martinez winner

The entire card makes this a PPV event. If it were just Canelo vs. Angulo, then hell no.
